Emmerdale’s Gabby Thomas star Rosie Bentham has revealed what’s in store for her character on the ITV soap.
Poor old Gabby has had a tumultuous time in the village over the years with her ex-fiancé Nicky Milligan, as well as his dad Caleb, only using her to get revenge on Kim Tate.
Elsewhere, when Gabby found herself pregnant after a one-night stand with Jamie Tate, the latter was unsupportive and has since faked his own death, disappearing out into the world, leaving Gabby to raise son Thomas alone.
An unlucky in love Gabby thought she had found ‘The One’ with husband Vinny Dingle but their marriage has since ended and Vinny has moved on with Lewis Barton in the village.
In recent scenes, Gabby has been enjoying a flirtation with Ross Barton. However, when she tried to take things further, Ross firmly rejected her leaving Gabby mortified. And this rejection will lead into a big and worrying storyline for Gabby.

Speaking to Express, as well as other press, at a recent event, Gabby star Rosie, 24, said: “I feel like this is a little bit deeper for Gabby actually. It kind of makes her go, ‘yes, we’ve been here before’, but men are just not something that’s going well for Gabby at the minute. And it’s just the ultimate rejection really.”
Talking about how this will progress into a “much bigger” storyline, Rosie continued: “Obviously Gabby and Vinny ended that relationship quite a while ago now and she’s seen him move on, he’s obviously happy with Lewis.
“She’s kind of in a little bit of limbo right now. She’s obviously focused on work and everything like that but is still craving that male validation, but also kind of wants to take control of her life and be that young businesswoman, and be successful and all of that.
“I think she sees Ross as a little bit of fun. I don’t think she wants a fully-committed relationship, but she’s also just very easily led by attractive young men.
“I don’t know if you remember what she was like with Nicky, but it was very similar. But Ross is giving it back to her. He’s flirting. Just a bit of fun flirting, but little does she know he’s obviously doing it everywhere else as well.

“He kind of says, ‘there’s obviously been a miscommunication here,’ and she’s like, you’ve literally been flirting with me non-stop, what it feels like to her for however long.
“It’s disappointing, and she is obviously completely humiliated, but that propels her into wanting to take control, forget men, and she wants to be the best version of herself.
“She starts trying to eat clean, and body image starts becoming really important to her. I think obviously with that rejection, and seeing Vinny all over the village absolutely fine makes her be like, let’s take control of our lives, we don’t need anybody else, and unfortunately that does become a bit obsessive, but I’m not quite sure where that’s going to go yet.”
Rosie added: “It’s prevalent. I’m really, really excited to see what is gonna happen in the next year. It’s gonna be really good. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s where it all starts.
“I feel like she’s always had that want to prove herself. She’s a 24-year-old girl and so social media and everything is so, especially, you’ve got to shrink yourself to feel validated and feel part of society and find your place.
“Getting rejected on top of that, it spirals and I think she’s looking for something else to put a focus on and what can be seen as quite a healthy thing, investing in your health and everything, at what point does that become an obsession and unhealthy? So it’s where that’s going to go which I actually don’t know yet, but it will be exciting to see.”
