SHOCK: Tess Daly sends ‘unavailable’ message after Vernon Kay split bombshell
Tess Daly has opened up about the importance of putting herself first following her split from husband Vernon Kay, encouraging women to make time to become “unavailable” from the pressures of everyday life.
The former Strictly Come Dancing presenter, 57, separated from Vernon in May after 22 years of marriage.
Now, as part of a new campaign with Wellwoman, Tess has spoken about why women should allow themselves time to switch off without feeling guilty.
“It’s about making yourself unavailable,” she said.
“If it’s an hour, fantastic, if it’s 15 minutes just sitting in your car, that’s alright too.”
Tess explained that even a short break can give women an opportunity to reset.
“We’re talking about a little time for yourself where you can reset, re-evaluate, and just make space for yourself.”
Tess Says Everything Will Not ‘Crash and Burn’
The presenter acknowledged that finding personal time can be particularly difficult for women balancing family responsibilities.
“I know that for a lot of women who are caring for family, or are mothers, you have got your responsibilities,” she said.
However, Tess insisted that taking a short amount of time away from those demands should not be viewed as selfish.
“But nothing’s going to crash and burn if you do take that little slice of time.”
She also encouraged women to step away from their phones where possible.
For Tess, one of her favourite ways to relax is spending several hours catching up with friends.
“I really enjoy chatting over something like a three-hour lunch,” she said.
She added that making time for yourself should be viewed as a necessity rather than an indulgence.
“We’ve got to keep reminding ourselves, it shouldn’t be a luxury to create time for yourself. It’s that simple.”
Tess Focuses on Life After Split
In recent months, Tess has been focusing on her swimwear brand, Naia Beach, while continuing to co-parent daughters Phoebe and Amber with Vernon.
Despite the end of their romantic relationship, the former couple have continued spending time together as a family.
Earlier this month, Tess shared pictures from a holiday in the South of France, confirming that Vernon, Phoebe and Amber had all joined her.
One photo showed the four of them enjoying dinner together.
