Former chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng and Political correspondent Ava-Santina debated Donald Trump’s upcoming meeting with Vladimir Putin on Thursday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, which Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley hosted.
Trump has said his aim for Friday’s talks with Putin on the Ukraine war is to obtain a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow. Kwarteng said, “I think he feels slightly humiliated, and if he doesn’t land something over the next few days, I think he will feel even more angry. So it’s quite a volatile situation.”
The politician added: “Putin, on his side, as well, might think, ‘Well, I haven’t had to give away anything now, so why should I change my approach?’ And I fear we won’t get much resolution.”

Madeley chimed in: “What about this offer that Trump is alleged to be making, where he says, ‘You can keep certain parts of the Ukraine you have stolen, you can also have the rare minerals.'”
In response to Madeley’s statement, Santina said Trump promised the American people there wouldn’t be any foreign wars.
However, Kwarteng interjected while she was speaking, leaving Santina looking visibly annoyed. She snapped: “I don’t think I’d quite finished making my point, Kwasi.”
Hawkins asked Santina if she wanted to continue making her point, to which she replied: “No, it’s alright. Look, it’s a hard sell to the Make America Great Again crowd, as they don’t want to see a foreign war. So yes, [Trump] would like to solve it tomorrow, I imagine.”

Addressing the Russian and American leaders’ meeting, Kwarteng said, “I think it’s a very dangerous situation. As far as Putin is concerned, he’s been committed to this war for three years now, and I don’t really see anything in the next three or four days that’s necessarily going to change his approach.”
Taking to Twitter following the debate, one person wrote: “And Keir Starmer is looking to undermine him by hosting Zelensky at Number 10 today. The only people who want this war to continue are NATO intelligence services and the British Establishment. Ghoulish profiteers.”
Another fumed: “Ava Santini’s eye rolling this morning was insane! Grow up!” A third added: “She is like a stroppy teenager, constantly gurning, rolling her eyes and disagreeing with everyone else.”

GB News presenter Patrick Christys has unleashed a scathing on-air tirade against the Labour Party (Image: GB News)
GB News presenter Patrick Christys has unleashed a scathing on-air tirade against the Labour Government and the National Crime Agency, accusing both of failing to tackle the UK’s migrant crisis. Patrick blasted new statistics showing fewer criminal gangs have been broken up under Labour than during the Conservative years, calling the figures “absolutely crushing for the Labour Government” and branding the situation “a disgrace.” The host said his team had personally handed over extensive intelligence to the NCA on multiple trafficking operations, including exact locations and audio recordings.
Shockingly, they claimed the information had been ignored. He described this as yet another example of bureaucracy getting in the way of real action. “We have singlehandedly given the NCA details of countless human traffickers, their locations, voice notes and everything,” he fumed. Patrick told viewers he had uncovered four suspected traffickers himself in just one hour, insisting this proves the networks are operating openly in Britain. “What the flipping heck are you doing?” he demanded of the agency.

He also tore into the NCA’s hiring policies, questioning whether the agency had enough real-world policing experience to take down serious organised crime.
“I thought they were a load of hard-nosed police officers but you can come straight into it from university, it’s basically a Civil Service position in some instances,” Patrick said.
His investigation, he argued, had exposed the sheer ease of finding trafficking suspects — raising urgent questions over why law enforcement had not moved in.
“The list of offences is all sorts, sexual assault, GBH, all sorts but for all of this guff, it turns out this lot has smashed fewer gangs than the Tories,” he added.
The segment also featured a heated clash with political commentator Jonathan Lis over Britain’s asylum system. Lis said: “I would not want to throw the baby out of the bathwater and end the asylum system.”
He admitted there were criminals among some arrivals but warned against blanket punishment: “You might have Afghan people who have committed crimes.

“That’s unacceptable but it’s collective punishment to end the whole system. We owe them gratitude for what they have done.” Patrick fired back sharply: “No we don’t.”
One viewer slammed the situation after watching the fiery segment, claiming police priorities were badly misplaced.
They said officers were “employed as carers” and spent “so much time escorting protesters” while crime spiralled out of control.
