Emmerdale viewers were left devastated after Dawn Fletcher’s story came to an emotional end following the dramatic fallout from a car crash that had already claimed another familiar face in the village.
The ITV soap has delivered an especially painful week for fans, with Jimmy King, played by Nick Miles, losing his life after his vehicle crashed into the marquee where Dawn and Joe Tate were due to marry.
Dawn, played by Olivia Bromley, was then rushed to hospital, where she went into premature labour and gave birth to a baby boy.
For a brief moment, it appeared that she and Joe, played by Ned Porteous, might finally have found some happiness after a turbulent period in their relationship.
Dawn had previously considered walking away from Joe, but the pair seemed ready to move forward together.
That hope disappeared almost immediately.
When Joe returned to Dawn’s hospital room, he found her unconscious as medics rushed to help her.
Despite their efforts, Dawn did not survive after losing too much blood.

The message said that four years represented a significant part of a child actor’s life and praised Bromley for being such a supportive on screen mother.
“Olivia, thank you for every laugh, every hug, every scene and all the memories you’ve helped create over the past four years,” the tribute read.
It also thanked Bromley for her kindness, patience and support, both during filming and away from the cameras.
Mabel’s mother credited her with helping the young actress develop “confidence, determination and work ethic” and said the family would always treasure the bond the pair had formed.
Bromley was clearly moved by the message and responded in the comments.
“Okay now I am crying,” she wrote, adding that she felt lucky to have worked with “the BEST soap children” and already missed them.
Dawn and Clemmie’s Bond Became a Major Storyline
Dawn’s relationship with Clemmie had become one of her most memorable storylines.
Viewers will remember that Dawn rescued the young girl from a deeply troubled home and later became her legal guardian.
She discovered Clemmie sleeping in a dog bed while surrounded by drug dealers, leading Dawn to step in and protect her.
It was later revealed that Clemmie was the biological half sister of Dawn’s son Lucas.
