Australian rock legend Gary “Angry” Anderson has died aged 79 after suffering a cardiac arrest while on tour in Germany.
The Rose Tattoo frontman died on Monday, September 21, surrounded by loved ones in Australia, according to a statement released by the band.
His death came weeks after he suffered a severe cardiac arrest while touring in Germany, forcing Rose Tattoo to cancel nine shows.
Although Anderson was later brought back to Australia for further treatment, he did not recover.
Confirming the news, the band wrote: “It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson on the eve of Monday, 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia.”

The statement continued: “Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community.
“His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas.”

They added: “We kindly ask that their wishes are respected as they come to terms with this devastating loss and take time they need to grieve.”
