HEATBREAKING: Sky News provides the latest update on the search for a three-year-old boy missing from a playground.
Sky News issued an urgent update as a huge search operation continued for three-year-old Noah Woods after he disappeared from a playground in Suffolk.
Noah went missing from a village playground in Brantham on Tuesday afternoon, prompting police, emergency services and local volunteers to launch an extensive search.
Sky News correspondent Barnaby Papadopulos said Noah is autistic, partially deaf and non-verbal — circumstances that were making efforts to find him particularly challenging.
Around 100 local residents had joined the operation and continued searching through the night alongside Suffolk Police, Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue and the fire and rescue service.
“At this stage, there are no updates,” Papadopulos said at the time.
“There have been no sightings of Noah since he went missing yesterday afternoon.”
He described the response as a “huge search operation” involving both professional teams and members of the public.
Searchers Face Major Difficulty
One of the biggest challenges for teams trying to find Noah was that he might not respond when people called his name.
Papadopulos explained that because the youngster is partially deaf and non-verbal, conventional attempts to attract his attention may not work.
“That is posing a particular difficulty for those people who have been out all night trying to look for him,” the correspondent said.
Residents were urged to examine places where a small child might potentially have hidden.
People were asked to check bins, garages and underneath vehicles because, at that stage of the operation, searchers had no clear indication of where Noah might have gone after leaving the playground.
Papadopulos said another group of volunteers was preparing to head out and continue searching alongside specialist police and rescue teams.
“They’re working alongside specialist units from the police and the search and rescue services in the hope that he’s found as soon as possible,” he said.
Police Reveal Noah’s Last Known Route
Suffolk Police said Noah was last seen at around 3pm on Tuesday, September 15.
He had been seen running down an alleyway towards a new-build housing estate on Merriam Close in Brantham.
Superintendent Pete Partridge said officers were deeply concerned about the three-year-old’s welfare.
Authorities needed to locate him “as a matter of urgency”, he said.
The search entered its second day with teams covering increasingly large areas around the Suffolk village.
Noah’s father, Rhys Woods, also made an emotional appeal for volunteers to widen their efforts.
He said emergency services were confident that several high-risk locations, including Decoy Pond and nearby railway lines, had already been checked.
Believing his son could have travelled further than initially expected, Mr Woods asked those who were able to help to expand the area they were searching.
Father Makes Desperate Appeal
As the hours passed without news, Noah’s father pleaded with people not to stop looking.
“I cannot go another night knowing he’s out there alone, please don’t give up on him guys,” he said.
Mr Woods also thanked the huge number of people who had joined police and emergency services in trying to locate his son.
He remained convinced Noah was “out there somewhere”.
“I appreciate every single one of you,” he told those supporting the search.
The extraordinary community response saw residents working through the night while specialist teams continued examining the wider area.
For searchers, Noah’s age and communication difficulties added urgency to an already deeply concerning disappearance.
Police continued urging the public to remain vigilant and check locations around their homes where the youngster might have sheltered or hidden.
At the time of the Sky News update, there had still been no confirmed sighting of Noah since he was seen leaving the playground.
With his family desperate for answers, volunteers and emergency services continued pushing ahead with the search in the hope of bringing the three-year-old safely home.
