BOMBSHELL: Prince Harry ‘lonely and sad’ in UK after brutal King Charles snub
Prince Harry may have been left feeling “lonely” and “sad” after the Royal Family made no public mention of his 42nd birthday, according to a broadcaster discussing the latest tensions surrounding the Duke of Sussex.
Harry celebrated his birthday on September 15, but neither Buckingham Palace nor the Prince and Princess of Wales publicly acknowledged the occasion.
News24 presenter Danica De Giorgio suggested the silence may have been particularly difficult for the Duke following his recent return to Britain.
“We’ve got to start with Prince Harry because I’ve got to say he cut a very lonely and sad figure on his 42nd birthday,” she said.
Her comments were an interpretation of Harry’s situation rather than a description of feelings expressed by the Duke himself.
Harry has not publicly said he was upset by the absence of a royal birthday message.
Meghan Steps In With Personal Birthday Tribute
De Giorgio highlighted the contrast between the Palace’s silence and Meghan Markle’s public tribute to her husband.
“The birthday was not celebrated by the Palace. There was not even a mention by the Palace,” the presenter said.
Meghan instead marked the occasion with an Instagram montage featuring Harry alongside their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The family images were accompanied by Simply the Best, creating a notably personal celebration of the Duke’s birthday.
De Giorgio described Meghan’s post as carefully choreographed and argued that it was intended to make clear how much she loves her husband.
That interpretation was the broadcaster’s own view and was not stated by Meghan.
Royal Family Did Mark Harry’s 40th
Fellow broadcaster Andrew Eborn pointed out that Harry had received public royal birthday wishes two years earlier when he reached a significant milestone.
He recalled that King Charles’s official account marked Harry’s 40th birthday in 2024.
“Basically, the official account of the King said [he was] ‘Wishing the Duke of Sussex a very happy 40th birthday,’” Eborn said.
William and Kate also publicly acknowledged Harry’s 40th, writing: “Wishing a happy 40th birthday to the Duke of Sussex.”
However, Eborn offered important context for why Harry may not have received another official message this year.
He explained that the Royal Family generally reserves public birthday acknowledgements for major milestones rather than posting them annually.
“What tends to happen, just to be fair to everybody, is they don’t normally give public birthday acknowledgements except for major milestones, so those decades, the 40th and so on and so forth,” he said.
The lack of a 42nd birthday message therefore does not by itself establish that Harry was deliberately snubbed.
Timing Makes Silence More Noticeable
Even so, the timing has fuelled discussion because Harry and Meghan have recently returned to the UK.
Their presence in Britain has prompted renewed speculation about whether Harry could begin repairing relationships with his family.
Eborn suggested that returning home may itself have been one of the most meaningful things for Harry around his birthday.
“The best birthday present for Harry was to come back to the UK and be closer to his family,” he said.
But he acknowledged that one particularly difficult relationship appears unchanged.
“The frosty relationship with his brother [Prince William], there’s no sign of that thawing at the moment,” Eborn added.
William and Harry Still Face Difficult Road
Harry has spoken previously about wanting reconciliation with members of his family, particularly King Charles.
His relationship with William, however, continues to attract much greater uncertainty.
There has been no public indication that the brothers have repaired their relationship following Harry’s return to Britain.
That context is why the lack of a birthday message from William and Kate drew additional attention, even if royal accounts do not normally celebrate every non-milestone birthday.
The clearest public message Harry received came instead from Meghan.
Her tribute placed their family at the centre of his birthday and offered followers photographs of the Duke with Archie and Lilibet.
For commentators, the contrast between that affectionate post and the Palace’s public silence was striking.
But there remains an important distinction between what happened publicly and what may have happened privately.
