Inside George Clooney’s love life and real response to gay rumours

When Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor George Clooney married international human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in 2014 more than a few jaws dropped. He had publicly vowed in a 1995 Barbara Walters interview to never marry again after his divorce from Talia Balsam in 1993. He had also spent over two decades exclusively dating models and actresses without a whiff of commitment. His reticence to settle down despite dating a bevvy of beauties had even led to rumours he was gay. Something he addressed in 2012, shortly before meeting his future wife in July 2013.
“I think it’s funny, but the last thing you’ll ever see me do is jump up and down, saying, ‘These are lies!’ That would be unfair and unkind to my good friends in the gay community. I’m not going to let anyone make it seem like being gay is a bad thing. My private life is private, and I’m very happy in it. Who does it hurt if someone thinks I’m gay? I’ll be long dead, and there will still be people who say I was gay. I don’t give a s***,” he insisted.

At the time, he addressed the rumours he was dating actress and former WWE wrestler Stacy Keibler, who was just the latest in a long line of stunning women he had stepped out with since finding fame on ER in 1994.
From 1996 until 1999, he was in a relationship with French law student Céline Balitran, whom he met while filming in Paris.
After they split, he wasn’t single for long as he began dating British model and TV presenter Lisa Snowden in 2000. They were together on and off for several years, but finally called it a day in 2005. In the midst of this period, he was also linked to actress Krista Allen, whom he met on the set of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002.
This was probably the messiest period in his romantic history as his relationship with Lisa lasted on and off for roughly five years while he and Krista also continued to reconnect, so the two women’s timelines occasionally overlapped.

In 2007, he began seeing former Las Vegas cocktail waitress Sarah Larson. They were together until 2008, and she had the distinction of being the first girlfriend to accompany him to the Oscars. When they broke up, he got together with Italian model and TV personality Elisabetta Canalis, whom he dated from 2009 until 2011.
He then began dating Stacy, with whom he was until he met Amal when a mutual friend brought her to his home in Lake Como, Italy.
The pair married less than a year after meeting and discussing their relationship withJason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett of the Smartless Podcast, he said. “The truth was, I met this amazing woman, and she took my breath away. She was brilliant and funny and beautiful and kind. I was sort of swept off my feet.”
