ITV star leaves Harry and Meghan red faced, as King Charles

An ITV star just showed up Prince Harry at a glitzy Hollywood ceremony, leaving the Duke of Sussex red-faced. At the David Foster Foundation gala in Canada last weekend, Britain’s Got Talent winner Sydnie Christmas was invited to perform a cover version of Frank Sinatra’s My Way and Tomorrow from hit musical Annie.
But with Harry and Meghan sitting in the audience, Sydnie made a joke about King Charles before she began singing, telling The Sun in an interview afterwards: “When I was on stage, I joked about meeting his dad before adding, ‘Sorry he couldn’t make it. He sent me instead.’ I say such silly things when I’m nervous.”

Though she claimed Harry “started laughing” at the mention of the king and took the whole affair in his stride, I presume beneath that jolly facade was a simmering humiliation at the mention of his estranged father. I imagine Harry giving Sydnie a “big cuddle” after the show had to rankle even more.
After all, Sydnie has established herself on the side of the Royal Family in the feud between the monarchy and the Sussexes. After she won BGT in 2024, she performed her debut single Believer at the Royal Variety Show in the presence of King Charles.
She said talking to Charles afterwards was “like talking to your grandad” – something Harry is keen to deny his father after taking his kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet out of the country to settle in Montecito, far away from their grandparents.
Sydnie added of the monarch: “The King looks like his mum. He’s small, with big hands. I was so impressed. He said, ‘Were you the girl that won the contest?’ I went, ‘Yeah’. I loved how normal he was.”
And now this mention of Charles after Harry’s low-key meeting with his dad at Highgrove this summer, which has done nothing but stir the rumour mill into a frenzy and increase the noise around the Sussex soap opera.
