Jeremy Clarkson’s former Grand Tour co-star, James May, has shared how his friend and former colleague doing now following a cancer diagnosis. In series five of Clarkson’s Farm, Jeremy, 66, shared that he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025.
He later explained that it was caught early and treated successfully. Following an operation to remove a portion of his prostate, he shared that he is currently in remission. Speaking on Matt Allwright on 5 today, for a “pubs special” the topic of Jeremy’s current health became a talking point.

Matt asked: “Jeremy, your friend, your colleague, your fellow pub owner. How is he getting on?” James asked if he meant with his pub, The Farmer’s Dog, to which the presenter replied: “With his … with his health?”

The former Top Gear host then shared a positive update and in a three-word admission revealed Jeremy is “over the hurdle”.
James said: “Oh, he’s fine, as far as I can tell. I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, and I think he’s over the over the hurdle.”

Jeremy confirmed to the Sunday Times that follow-up testing in April had shown no indication of cancer and that he is now officially in remission.
“I am without a doubt, officially, the world’s luckiest man,” he told the paper.
“It was an aggressive type of cancer. It could have spread, it could have gone into the pancreas, it could have gone anywhere, and that would have been trouble.”
He also shared that he is now having regular blood tests to monitor his health and knew there was a 40% chance of those who have prostate cancer getting it again.
“I try to be positive. I’ve decided to be one of the 60% who doesn’t have a recurrence,” Jeremy said.
His cancer diagnosis came after a routine medical check in May 2025. Since then, he has urged his fans and followers to get themselves checked out.
Jeremy said: “It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer. I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line.”
Before his cancer diagnosis, Jeremy underwent a heart procedure in October 2024, which saw him fitted with two stents to help prevent a potentially fatal heart attack.
