Lorraine Kelly shares World Cup halftime show verdict after Wayne Rooney’s blunt remark

Lorraine Kelly has given her verdict on the World Cup halftime show which left many Brits unimpressed after the break ran over 27 minutes.
Among those left disgruntled is the ITV star who has made her thoughts on the halftime break very clear. Re-posting a video of former England captain Wayne Rooney declaring the show was ‘crap’, Lorraine simply wrote: “Yep.”
BBC pundit Rooney was asked in the studio what he thought of the performances which halted the game for almost half an hour. He bluntly replied: “I like a lot of them artists but I thought it was crap. I did honestly,” as Joe Hart’s jaw dropped at his unfiltered comment.
Lorraine agreed as she shared the clip of Rooney to her Instagram Story after Justin Bieber, Shakira, Madonna, BTS and Burna Boy took to the pitch at the New Jersey Stadium to perform.

Despite the star-studded lineup, only one act stood out to the ITV star as she added: “Apart from Animal on the drums.”
The Muppet appeared on the drums alongside guitarist Janice. Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog also made an appearance.
The halftime show came under fire after FIFA broke their own rules by having the show exceed their 15-minute time limit.
Organisers had originally said that the halftime show would only last 11 minutes, with the time needed to assemble and dismantle the stage at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey taking the total expected break length to around 20 minutes.
However, it ran over as there were over 27 minutes between referee Slavko Vincic’s whistle at the end of the first half and the start of the second.
Spain was victorious over Argentina last night in the 2026 World Cup final after they scored the only goal of the game in the 106th minute.
Ferran Torres scored after being taken off the bench, denying Lionel Messi a second straight title in what he has indicated would be his final World Cup match.
This is the second time in World Cup history that Spain has won the tournament; their last win was in 2010 against the Netherlands.
Argentina previously won the title at the last World Cup in 2022 against 2018 winners France.
