Meghan opened up about the challenges of being away from her children…
Meghan Markle has opened up about one of the most difficult periods of her life, revealing the emotional toll of being apart from her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for nearly three weeks.
The Duchess of Sussex shared her experience during a candid moment in season two of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.

Meghan Markle on being separated from Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet
Speaking with Queer Eye star Tan France, who admitted he struggles to be away from his two young children for even a few days, Meghan responded with visible emotion.
“Oh, I know,” she said, nodding softly. “The longest I went without being around our kids was almost three weeks.” After a brief pause, she added quietly, “…I was not well.”
While Meghan didn’t specify when the separation took place, it’s believed she was referring to September 2022, when she and Prince Harry unexpectedly extended their stay in the UK following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
At the time, the couple had left Archie and Lilibet in California under the care of Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.
Meghan and Harry initially travelled to Manchester for the One World Summit on September 5, before heading to Düsseldorf for an Invictus Games event and then returning to London.
However, following the Queen’s passing on September 8, they remained in the UK for nearly two additional weeks. The couple stayed to attend royal engagements and the late monarch’s state funeral on September 19.
Prince Harry previously wrote about this difficult period in his memoir, Spare. He recalled how he and Meghan were away from their children “longer than we’d ever been.”
Upon reuniting, Harry wrote that “for days and days we couldn’t stop hugging the children, couldn’t let them out of our sight”.

However, Archie and Lilibet will not be appearing on the show.
The Duchess of Sussex has been sharing more glimpses of family life recently. After returning to social media earlier this year, Meghan has posted everything from birthday tributes to photos and videos of their Montecito home.
Despite this shift, Meghan and Prince Harry continue to keep Archie and Lilibet out of the public eye.
PR expert Rhea Freeman said: “I would be really surprised if Lilibet and Archie appeared in this series in any meaningful way. If we look at Meghan’s Instagram, we often see the back of the children’s heads, or emojis covering their faces.”
Rhea added that the couple wants to keep their children “protected and safe”. They are also trying to limit “additional exposure to the public” due to ongoing security concerns.
