Meghan Markle has reportedly made a move that could put her husband’s hopes of a royal return in jeopardy

Direct comments can be dangerous. But sometimes it’s the cryptic ones that can cause the most drama, as Meghan Markle may be about to find out.

At a special screening of Cookie Queens — a documentary about Girl Scouts, which Meghan and Harry executive produced — in Los Angeles in July, Meghan made a comment about “hard days”. She said: “I was thinking about something my husband told me ages ago, because we all go through experiences and life is full of surprises. But you know, he was a helicopter pilot in the British Army for 10 years. And sometimes on really hard days, he once said, ‘Hey, but my love, you know, even if there’s a storm happening above the storm, the sun’s always shining.’ ”

A pretty harmless comment, right?

Right. Well, for anyone who has heard Meghan make similar comments before, it isn’t this straightforward.

That’s because when Prince Harry’s wife has made similar comments before about hard days, tough times, and not feeling ok, they have all been aimed very clearly at the Royal Family.

This one wasn’t (at least, we think it wasn’t), but the fact she even had to bring it up – and to bring it up with limited context to get people thinking – is dangerous.

Because even making a comment referring back to her hard days, which she frequently associated with royal life, could upset Harry’s royal relatives. Especially since it serves as a reminder to the public of all the claims she has made over the years.

It essentially brings public attention back to the old issues that, really, we all just want to hear the end of.

Ironically, Meghan has made the reference to hard days when she and Prince Harry seem to be on better terms with the royals, having reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove last month.

So let’s hope her cryptic comment hasn’t risked unravelling the progress that has been made by bringing up old problems. Harry certainly won’t appreciate it, that’s for sure
