NIGELLA Lawson has reportedly labelled her Bake Off co-star Paul Hollywood ‘cringe’.

The new judge, 66, is thought to have deemed the superstar baker’s movements ‘a bit gauche’ – while he is coming across ‘as a right berk’.

According to The Daily Mail, sources said that tensions are already escalating between the pair.

An insider told the publication: “They aren’t really getting on too well.”

The source claims Paul prefers working with his previous co-star Prue Leith – while Nigella has a very different style to her hosting.

“Nigella is sexy, she’s classy and she’s a national treasure,” the source explained.

Paul commutes 120 miles from Kent to The Great British Bake Off set in Berkshire in his £500k helicopter.

The source continued: “Put it this way: imagine if you’re super-rich Nigella and you see your co-star turning up in a helicopter, presumably to avoid the traffic and have a little bit of a show-off…

“You’re going to think it’s all a bit ghastly. Nigella is worth £15million, she’s old money.

“Her father was Chancellor of the Exchequer and her mother was heir to a fortune.

“Paul might be worth over £10million himself, but it is all a bit gauche and new rich.

“He loves that helicopter – it’s very much a status symbol for him, but frankly it also makes him come across as a right berk.

“There has been some sniggering behind the scenes.”

His OTT arrivals have ‘disrupted’ the peaceful countryside – while his new co-star, Nigella, travels to work by car like the rest of the team.

Prue stepped down from the Channel 4 show this year after nine series.

The best-selling cookbook author has admitted that she’s ‘really frightened’ to take over.

Yet while Prue previouslythrew her weight behind the new Bake Off recruit, it seems she won’t be tuning in because she ‘hardly ever watches telly’.

She advised Nigella to “just enjoy it because you’ll never have a nicer job”.

Glam chefNigella –who in part is known for her saucy innuendos–was previously said to be“bubbling with excitement”over her new telly role.

She will appear in the famous tent alongside fellow judge Paul, plus hosts Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding.

The Sun was first to reveal that Nigella was taking over from Prue, with a source describing the cook as a “phenomenal signing”.

The job marks a return to TV screens for Nigella, who has not screened a new series since Cook, Eat Repeat in 2020.
