Loose Women Lines Up Two Major New Names After Nadia Sawalha and Denise Welch Departures

Loose Women is reportedly preparing for a major panel shake-up following the departures of two of its most recognisable stars.

Singer Anastacia and Dragons’ Den entrepreneur Emma Grede are said to have been offered short-term contracts to join ITV’s lunchtime programme after Nadia Sawalha and Denise Welch both left the show.

The proposed additions would bring two very different personalities to the rotating panel, with ITV reportedly hoping Emma could attract younger viewers while Anastacia adds another outspoken entertainment figure to the line-up.

Neither appointment has been officially confirmed, and ITV has been contacted for comment.

Anastacia and Emma Grede reportedly offered contracts

Anastacia, best known for hits including I’m Outta Love and Left Outside Alone, has previously appeared on Loose Women as a guest and is already familiar with the programme’s format.

Emma has also visited the show before and brings considerable television and business experience. She has appeared as an investor on BBC’s Dragons’ Den alongside Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones.

The entrepreneur also has close ties to the Kardashian family. She is a founding partner of Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company SKIMS and co-founded the fashion brand Good American with Khloé Kardashian.

A source claimed both women had been offered contracts that would see them appear as panellists for an initial two-month period.

“ITV have offered both Emma and Anastacia contracts that will see them appear on the show as panellists,” the insider said. “Both have been on as guests so they know the set-up.”

The source suggested the programme had endured a particularly difficult year, with controversies and budget cuts combining to create what they described as a “perfect storm”.

They added that Emma’s popularity on Dragons’ Den could help Loose Women reach a different audience.

“Emma was a huge hit on Dragons’ Den and it’s hoped she would bring in a younger demographic to the show,” the source claimed.

“Anastacia is a household name and brings in a new perspective and isn’t shy when it comes to speaking her mind.”

Denise Welch walks away after nearly 25 years

The reported changes follow Denise Welch’s decision to leave Loose Women after almost a quarter of a century on and off the programme.

Denise first joined the show during its early years, later taking a seven-year break before returning in 2018.

Announcing her departure, she said the programme had played a significant role in both her life and her family’s life.

“I’m leaving Loose Women after the best part of 25 years, off and on,” she explained. “This show has been part of mine, and my family’s life, for nearly a quarter of a century.”

Denise said she had “wonderful memories” of the programme but wanted to concentrate on acting, which she described as her “first love” and the work she believes she does best.

Nadia Sawalha claims she was ‘phased out’

Nadia Sawalha’s departure has been far more contentious.

The presenter was part of Loose Women when it launched in 1999. She left in 2002 before returning to the panel in 2013.

Nadia has claimed that she was gradually “phased out” of the current series without receiving a proper explanation. She also alleged that ITV informed her about a 20-page dossier containing complaints against her but did not allow her to respond because she was not told what the allegations were.

“I haven’t been allowed to answer one single allegation because I don’t know what they are,” Nadia said, describing herself as shocked and deeply upset.

She has also claimed she feared her support for Palestinian rights may have played a role in her treatment and said she was prepared to consider legal action.

With two long-standing panellists now gone, the reported arrival of Anastacia and Emma could signal the beginning of a very different era for Loose Women.
