Robbie Williams breaks silence as fans left concerned by ‘white object’ blunder during live TV interview
The Let Me Entertain You singer has gone viral on social media following the moment during Sunday’s World Cup final
Robbie Williams has broken his silence on the awkward viral moment of him during a live TV interview that saw a tiny white object tumble onto his microphone.
The 52-year-old had just performed the official Fifa anthem Desire alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Laura Pausini at the World Cup final closing ceremony at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday evening.
Appearing on Germany’s MagentaTV’s broadcast afterwards, the small mystery blob slipped from his mouth mid-conversation.
The Rock DJ hitmaker spotted it, casually plucked it off the mic, and carried on chatting.

However, things took another humorous turn when he ran his hand through his hair, accidentally sticking the object to his forehead, where it stayed for the remainder of the interview.
The clip quickly went viral on social media, racking up over a million views on Instagram alone, leading to speculation as to what the white object may be.
Singer Michael Bublé even weighed in with a since-deleted comment: “Was a mint saved it for later lol.” (sic)
The mystery substance was actually a Nicorette mint that had slipped out while Mr Williams was enthusiastically discussing the match.
And Mr Williams wasted no time addressing the fuss, posting a tongue-in-cheek video to Instagram the following day.
Lying in bed with a deadpan expression, he explained: “I’d just like to apologise for the object that fell onto the microphone yesterday.
“It was deeply unprofessional, and people worried about me. But it’s okay because I had several more,” he said, before sticking out his tongue to reveal two round white mints sitting there.

A source close to the singer said he’d woken up to hundreds of messages from friends and fans wondering what had happened, but took the whole thing completely in his stride.
Fans and famous faces alike flocked to the comments section of the Instagram post to share their reactions.
Presenter Piers Morgan was among them, sharing a series of laughing emojis.
