ROMANCE ON THE COBBLES: Sean looks set for a fresh love story, and Corrie fans are already curious
Coronation Street’s Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) has been on the cobbles for over two decades and has been through his fair share of relationships
Coronation Street fans have been speculating about a potential new romance blossoming on the cobbles for Sean Tully.
Sean, portrayed by Antony Cotton, first graced the ITV soap back in 2003, swiftly cementing himself as one of the show’s most cherished and iconic figures.
The Rovers Return barman has been at the heart of numerous landmark storylines throughout his time on the street – from facing homelessness to stepping up as father to Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne).
Sean’s colourful love life has long been a hot topic amongst viewers, with his trail of ill-fated romances keeping fans gripped. Over the years, he’s been romantically linked to the likes of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou).
His most recent romantic encounter came in 2022, when he embarked on a date with a dentist named Lawrence White – only for it to come to an abrupt halt upon discovering Lawrence was a married man, reports the Daily Star.
Now, however, fans are convinced that Cupid’s arrow is about to strike again for Sean – and with a recognisable face at that. Speculation is rife on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, with viewers tipping Rafael (Dale Vicker), the waiter at Debbie Webster’s (Sue Devaney) The Chariot Square Hotel, as Sean’s next potential love interest.
“I want to see more of Raf get him and Sean together,” enthused one fan. Another chipped in: “Definitely. We need more Rafael.”
A third agreed: “I agree they’d be great together.” While a fourth quipped: “Was gonna ask who’s he but you’ve answered my question already lol. Deffo get them together.”
Off-screen, Sean actor Antony Cotton is happily coupled up with long-term beau Peter Eccleston, whom he initially crossed paths with on the Coronation Street set, where Eccleston works behind the scenes as a props buyer.
The exact timeline of their romance remains under wraps, and the pair haven’t tied the knot. However, back in 2010, Cotton and Eccleston did exchange rings as a symbol of their devotion to each other.
While Peter isn’t in the acting game, he did make an appearance in the 1991 film Let Him Have It alongside his uncle, portraying a young version of Eccleston’s character Derek at just eight years old.
