Royal Family: Inside Harry and Meghan’s UK trip as ‘tempers frayed’ after ‘errors’

Prince Harry has been in the UK since Monday (Image: Samir Hussein/WireImage)
The Duke of Sussex’s trip to the UK this week has been described as a “comedy of errors”, with multiple things having gone wrong since the prince landed in the country on Monday. While Harry had reportedly originally hoped for a dream trip back to his home country with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, things did not go to plan.
Instead of all the family flying over together on Monday, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet held off until the weekend as a result of the family not being given armed police protection. It was on Friday that Harry was finally joined by his family in the UK, with a reunion then happening with King Charles. This meant that for most of the week, Harry, 41, was in the UK alone dealing with various “complicated matters”, from not being able to stay at Buckingham Palace to losing a court case.
Speaking about the chaotic UK trip, The Telegraph’s Deputy Royal Editor Victoria Ward wrote about how “tempers were frayed” from both Harry and his royal relatives after drama surrounding Harry this week, including the matters with his Palace stay. She then said that while Harry may have dreamed of a return of arm police protection and tea at Buckingham Palace, this was not the reality.
She said: “The reality, as it turned out, was more akin to a Benny Hill caper, a comedy of errors that saw the whole trip gradually unravel in a flood of bitter recriminations.”

Prince Harry’s friendship with 1 royal ‘effectively over’
Any chance of Prince Harry being good friends with one of his cousins is “effectively over”, according to one royal commentator. It comes as Princess Beatrice, Harry’s first cousin, was seen having lunch with Piers Morgan, who famously has a feud with Meghan and Harry.
Charlotte Griffiths, the Editor at Large of the Mail on Sunday, appeared on the True Royalty Podcast and discussed what the meeting means. “I thought that was very telling because, of course, Piers Morgan is her cousin Prince Harry’s absolute nemesis,” Griffiths said. “So any friendship she has with Prince Harry is effectively over from this moment.”

Why Prince George wore a suit and tie at Wimbledon despite 29C heat
The heat in London didn’t stop the Royals from dressing properly at Wimbledon today. Among them was Prince George, who donned a dapper navy suit complete with a blazer, crisp shirt and striped tie.
This is despite temperatures reaching as high as 29C in London today, as the UK continues to grapple with a record-breaking series of summer heatwaves.
However, this is due to the rules in the Royal Box, which come with very specific dress codes.
The Wimbledon website states: “Protocol – dress is smart, suits/jacket and tie, etc. Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them.”

Meghan Markle savaged after reunion with King Charles
A royal commentator has said that the Sussexes’ visit to King Charles wasn’t as much of a win as some have suggested. An insider told Rob Shuter that people shouldn’t believe the headlines that suggest the reunion was a resounding success.
“Don’t believe the hype,” they said. “This wasn’t a surrender—it was a grandfather wanting to see his grandchildren. People are confusing compassion with capitulation.
“Yes, the meeting happened. But look at what didn’t happen.
“There was no official photograph. No public embrace. No balcony moment. No joint statement declaring a new chapter. No announcement restoring Harry’s role. No change to security arrangements. No constitutional shift. The monarchy gave away absolutely nothing.”
They added: “If Buckingham Palace wanted the world to see this as a reconciliation, there would have been a picture. The fact that there wasn’t tells you everything you need to know.”

Royal fans issue the same complaint about Kate and William’s Wimbledon decision
Royal fans were left disappointed after a notable absence from William and Kate’s family day out today. While they attended Wimbledon with two of their children, George and Charlotte, Prince Louis was notably missing.
Many had hoped he might make his Wimbledon debut this year. On Reddit, one person wrote: “Awwwe come on, let him attend!” Another joked: “Younger siblings everywhere feel his pain!”
On Twitter, one user joked: “Where’s Louis, the prince who doesn’t hide his boredom?”

Prince William was seen going into Dad mode as he attended Wimbledon with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. William appeared to be reassuring his son with words and a pat on the leg as they sat for the men’s singles final on Sunday, July 12.
The Daily Mail’s royal editor, Rebecca English, shared a clip on Instagram which appeared to show William giving George a sweet moment of reassurance from dad”.

Princess Diana’s brother shared a sweet family photo with followers on social media ahead of the World Cup game yesterday, in which England would come out victorious.
It comes after Prince Harry was seen leaving the Spencer family home, Althorp, this weekend. However, it has not been confirmed whether or not Harry reunited with his uncle, Charles Spencer, during his visit to the UK.
Spencer took to Instagram and shared a photo with his wife, who is a Norwegian archaeologist and television presenter, as their two home nations went head-to-head in the match.
“Nervous laughter as the Big Match gets underway – England vs Norway in the World Cup…” he wrote in the photo’s caption.

Prince Harry brutally savaged by royal author – ‘poisonous’
A royal author has described Prince Harry as ‘poison’ for the monarchy, and said that he has damaged the reputation of the Royal Family over the last five years.
Harry arrived in the UK on Monday, and his wife, Meghan Markle, followed this weekend, although she did not make any public appearances. Harry, on the other hand, attended several public engagements during his stay in Britain.
His time in his home country has certainly divided opinions. One royal author, Tom Bower, told the Daily Express: “The man is poison for the monarchy, and I think all the damage he and Meghan have done over the last 5 years, yes, there was again more damage, and the monarchy’s popularity has fallen.
“It needs to rebuild its popularity and rebuild its respect for people. And Harry’s presence in Britain just undermines that effort.”

Meghan Markle left with 1 answer from latest Prince Harry drama, source claims
Meghan Markle has reportedly been left with one answer following the latest drama surrounding her husband, Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex is in the UK to promote his Invictus Games, but Buckingham Palace has been unable to accommodate him due to a missed response deadline.
According to a royal insider, Meghan now believes she will never see the Royal Family again. The situation has left her feeling insulted, and she reportedly no longer has “interest in ever putting herself – or her children – through this again”. It comes after it was confirmed that Buckingham Palace would not allow Harry to stay at the royal residence, with the prince’s team reportedly declining the invitation before later reversing course and accepting it.
Prince William and Prince Harry have grown apart since the latter chose to break away from the Royal Family with his wife, Meghan Markle. Reports suggest that the Prince of Wales wants nothing to do with his younger sibling after the King’s second son lashed out at the monarchy during an interview with Oprah Winfrey and in his memoir Spare. But there may yet be hope of healing their relationship, a royal expert has suggested, and it centres on one man, whom many royal fans may not have heard of.

Prince Harry makes emotional reference to his children on final day of UK tour
Prince Harry made a touching reference to his kids during the final day of his UK tour while speaking to children supported by Scotty’s Little Soldiers.
The charity, which supports children who have lost a parent who served in the military, hosted a question and answer session with the Duke of Sussex its summer festival at Maxstoke Castle in Warwickshire on Saturday. In an emotional moment, Poppy, 9, who lost her father Able Seaman Daniel Turnbull in July 2020 to leukaemia, asked Prince Harry how he dealt with his difficult days.
Princess Kate and Prince William to attend Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final today
The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend the Men’s Singles Final at Wimbledon this afternoon. Catherine, Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, will present the trophy to the winner after the match between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev.
World No 1 Sinner is playing to defend his title, having beaten Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s final three sets to one. The Italian is the favourite to lift the trophy, having beaten German-born Zverev in their last nine meetings. But his opponent, who knocked out British wildcard Arthur Fery in the semi-final, will be seeking to complete a French Open-Wimbledon double, having won his first Grand Slam in the competition last month.
The future king and queen will have a front row seat to the action in the Royal Box, marking the second day in a row Catherine has attended the Championships, as she watched and presented the Women’s Singles Trophy yesterday afternoon.

Princess Charlotte once broke Royal Family tradition at Wimbledon leaving fans impressed
Princess Charlotte may be just 11-years-old, but she is already known for being a stickler when it comes to royal rules. At big events, she is often seen reminding her brothers of royal protocols, from bowing your head at a monarch to standing with your arms by your side when the national anthem plays.
However, while the princess knows all these royal rules and processes, it seems that she doesn’t stick to every Royal Family tradition. This includes the unofficial nail varnish rule. Over the years, members of the Royal Family mostly steer clear of bright nail polish and opt for more neutral and natural-looking shades. However, at Wimbledon last year, Charlotte stepped out with nail varnish.
Princess Kate’s sweet five-word comment to tennis star during Wimbledon appearance
Princess Catherine was all smiles yesterday as she stepped out to watch the Wimbledon Ladies Singles Final – and made a sweet comment to a tennis star. The princess, who is patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, waved to the crowds as she arrived to watch the match between no 10 seed Karolina Muchova and No 9 seed Linda Noskova.
Wearing a red belted top and pleated midi skirt, Catherine watched the match from the royal box before heading on to Centre Court herself to present the winner’s trophy, the Venus Rosewater Dish, to Czech Republic’s Linda Noskova.
The Princess of Wales, 44, used a handheld fan to keep cool during Saturday’s event. While Prince William and her children did not accompany her, the princess looked more than happy to be sat with former tennis player Martina Navratilova.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to get ’emotional security’ from meeting King Charles
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet returned to the UK on Friday for the first time since 2022. Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, flew to Britain with their mum Meghan Markle to join their dad Prince Harry in his home country on his latest visit.
Despite having arrived on Monday, Harry had not had a meeting with his father King Charles until Friday, when the family-of-four visited the monarch and Queen Camilla together. The private family reunion happened at Highgrove, and was completely private. While we may never know what was discussed or chatted about at the reunion, one expert has said that it will have been so important for Harry’s children to get to know the King.
‘I was friends with Prince Harry – he did one surprising thing before royal engagements’
Prince Harry may no longer be a working royal, but up until he quit in 2020, he had spent years carrying out official engagements and duties. This ranged from visiting hospitals, hosting events, meeting communities and doing charity work.
It also saw the prince attend spectacular royal events, with Trooping the Colour one of the biggest. While the prince always looked delighted and animated at such events, it seems that he may not have felt this way on the inside. This is because, according to the Daily Mail journalist Charlotte Griffiths, he sometimes attended royal engagements on very little sleep.

Meghan Markle’s brutal 7-word desription of Wimbledon visit with Princess Kate
Meghan Markle previously gave a brutal description of her experience of attending Wimbledon alongside her sister-in-law, Princess Catherine. Meghan, who has visited the UK this week for the first time since 2022, has previously attended the annual tennis tournament with Catherine on two occasions – once in 2018, just weeks after her royal wedding to Prince Harry, and again in 2019, just weeks after welcoming Prince Archie.
She previously spoke of her time in the Royal Family during the Sussexes’ bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, whilst being heavily pregnant with their now-five-year-old daughter. Whilst asking Meghan if she felt “welcomed” by members of the Firm, the television host then spoke of Meghan and Catherine’s joint appearance at Wimbledon.
Wimbledon legend who kissed Princess Kate 3 times in front of Prince William
Princess Catherine steps out at Wimbledon every year, not only because she is patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, but also because she is an avid tennis fan. The Princess of Wales, 44, has been playing tennis herself since a young age, and is believed to be very fond of the sport.
Over the years, she has also made friendships with many tennis legends, including Roger Federer. The pair get on well, bonding over their love for tennis and Wimbledon. Not only has Catherine and Federer watched tennis from the royal box together a number of times, but they have also played tennis together too.
