SAD NEWS: Beloved Reality TV Star D!es “Suddenly” at 36 as Tributes Pour In.
Born This Way star Cristina Sanz has d!ed aged 36, following a sudden medical emergency that saw her rushed to hospital. The reality TV star featured across all four seasons of the A&E programme, which followed the daily lives of adults living with Down syndrome.
Cristina d!ed on Monday after suffering cardiac arrest while attending her day programme, her parents Mariano and Beatriz confirmed to TMZ. She was reportedly transported to a local hospital, where she d!ed. In a tribute posted on Instagram, they wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our daughter, Cristina, passed away Monday morning. She suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while at her Day Program and was rushed to the hospital. Despite the doctors’ best efforts to stabilise her heart, she did not survive. We are grateful that we were able to be by her side at the end. Her d3ath was a total shock and unexpected. We will forever treasure the gift of her life. We will all carry in our hearts the wonderful ‘Cristina moments’ that she gave us.”

Several of her followers also left tributes, with numerous people describing her as a “passionate dancer”. One posted: “Condolences to the family. Got to know her at the gym. She was a very passionate dancer and always front row right during beside me during Zumba. It was always great to see her. We will miss you.”
Another commented: “I’m so sorry, this is heartbreaking. One of my favourite memories of Cristina was when she did her ballroom dancing competition. Praying for your family.”
Viewers were first introduced to Cristina during the inaugural series of Born This Way, which launched on A&E in December 2015. They witnessed her journey towards building a career and developing a devoted relationship with her husband, Angel Callahan.
The pair separated in 2021, pointing to their isolation throughout the Covid-19 pandemic as a significant source of strain that ultimately resulted in their separation.
Cristina and Angel exchanged vows in August 2018, during a Beauty and the Beast-themed ceremony that featured in the programme’s fourth series. They had been together for almost five years by the time the show debuted and started documenting their romance on camera.
Angel popped the question during an intimate dinner at the conclusion of Series 1. The cast of Born This Way were present at their wedding, with several taking on roles in the bridal party.
