MasterChef viewers were left fuming just minutes into the grand final after branding the episode total “nonsense”. BBC fans tuning in for a nail-biting showdown between Sophie, Claire, and Harry expected sizzling pans and tense tasting. Instead, they were served nearly half an hour of what some slammed as “sob stories” and filler footage. The episode opened with a glossy recap of the series before seguing into segments of the three finalists heading back to their hometowns, sharing childhood snaps and chatting about their upbringings.

It took a staggering 30 minutes before any new cooking content made it to air — and fans were not impressed. One furious viewer raged on X: “#masterchef is supposed to be about cooking, isn’t it? Cut all of this sycophantic b******t. Parents & partners think they’re kids & partners are great, I get it. You’d think they’d cured cancer and resurrected Princess Diana the way they’re banging on about them.” Another fumed: “Oh, get on with it, no one’s interested in the sob stories. It’s a cooking show, get over yourselves.”

A third piled on, mocking the episode’s pacing: “Time for 30 min recap of the series, 15 minutes of random tribute videos to the finalists, 10 minutes of them cooking the final menu and 5 minutes to tell us the winner.”

Another brutal assessment read: “So who wins the sob story….post-natal depression, recovering addict or dead dad?? And can we see some cooking, please?!” and “@MasterChefUK Really can we not keep it to how good they can cook rather the sob story of their life. . Is that why they were pick because of their life struggles. #MasterChef #cook there great cooks don’t need that.”

The threesome were seen battling it out to impress judges John Torode and Anna Haugh as they turned up the heat in the kitchen.

The amateur cooks served up a three-course menu that must deliver in presentation, taste and originality, hoping they will have done enough to be crowned MasterChef Champion 2025.

Four chefs made it to finals week, but after a trip to Greece, they returned to the MasterChef kitchen and faced one last elimination. The cooking show only had three spots in its final.

Sam was the unlucky chef who was eliminated at the last hurdle and just missed out on making it all the way to the MasterChef 2025 final. He went home in yesterday’s episode.

Fans were very divided on who deserved the coveted prize, with each of them serving. up creative, stellar dishes to John and Anna.

Dishes included a wild mushroom croquette and poached brill wrap in courgettes.

But it was London native and fihmonger Harry who wowed ther judges most – finally securing the winners trophy.

“This is up there with the best days of my life,” he said as he cried tears of joy.

Fans were elated with the winner. “Well done #Harry so well deserved! That was a great final,” gushed one fan.

Another penned: “Chuffed about the Masterchef winner! Absolutely deserved, incredible cooking throughout, and I expect to see big things from them in the future 🙂
