TRAGIC UPDATE: Strictly star ‘devastated’ as Ann Widdecombe’s d3ath goes ‘under police investigation’

Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has admitted he is “devastated” by Ann Widdecombe’s death. On Friday (July 10), the former Express columnist and former Tory MP passed away at the age of 78, with tributes quickly pouring in from her famous friends and loyal legion of fans online. Taking to Instagram, he shared a touching tribute to his former dance partner online.
He began: “The saddest of news we’ve heard today, the passing of the lovely Ann Widdecombe. I have to tell you, I had the most brilliant time with Ann on Strictly Come Dancing. She became a real friend.

“She was fun, she was upbeat, she was positive, she was supportive, she was game. She wanted to enter into the spirit of the whole thing, and we had an incredible time together, and we stayed firm friends.
“My thoughts go out to all of her nearest and dearest and all her family. This is a sad day, and I’m devastated by the news of Ann’s passing, but I shall remember her fondly and miss her.”
It didn’t take long for fans to flock to the comments section to share their heartfelt messages of condolences online. One user penned: “Thought of you right away when I saw the news. She’ll be dancing up there with the lovely Len [heart emoji].”

Another agreed: “You were the first person I thought of. You and Ann, in the Paso Doble, dragging her along the floor, was such an iconic moment of Strictly. Such sad news. She was a good sport. RIP Ann, hugs to you, Anton [heart emoji].”

A third chimed in with: “You and Ann brought so much joy. She really was a no-nonsense woman who just enjoyed the experience for what it was. A true icon [heart emoji].” It comes after a murder investigation was launched into the politician’s death.
This afternoon, Devon and Cornwall Police described her death at her home in Dartmoor as “suspicious”, adding a probe had been launched. The force said police officers were called to an address at Haytor by the ambulance service at around 11.40am yesterday, on July 9.
The statement continued: “Sadly, 78-year-old Miss Widdecombe was located deceased within the property. She had sustained serious injuries.” Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, the force added.
