Prince William Reportedly Furious Over Harry’s Diana Project as Meghan’s Role Sparks Fresh Royal Tension

Prince William is reportedly unhappy over Prince Harry’s alleged plans for a new documentary about Princess Diana, with Meghan Markle’s expected involvement said to be creating another sensitive issue between the brothers.

The Duke of Sussex has previously been linked to a special project honouring his late mother, with Daily Mail editor-at-large Richard Kay reporting that Harry had been contacting friends and others who knew Diana to ask whether they would take part.

Now, a separate report claims Meghan could have a major role in the production, something that has reportedly alarmed the Prince of Wales.

According to an unnamed royal insider quoted by Woman’s Day, Harry sees Meghan’s involvement as entirely natural because the couple have worked together as producing partners.

“From Harry’s perspective, it makes perfect sense to have Meghan heavily involved in this project,” the source said.

“She’s his producing partner, and she brings a ton of expertise to the table.”

Meghan’s Role Said to Be a Major Issue

The insider claimed the real point of tension for William is not simply the documentary itself, but the suggestion that Meghan could be presented in a way that invites comparisons with Diana.

According to the source, William strongly dislikes what they described as the “Diana 2.0” narrative surrounding Meghan.

The report claims he believes Princess Kate is far closer to his mother in the way she approaches family life, public duty and charitable work.

William “can’t stand the narrative that Meghan is somehow this Diana 2.0,” the insider alleged.

The source went further, claiming that the idea of Harry and Meghan taking control of a high-profile tribute to Diana, particularly while based in Britain, had left William extremely frustrated.

Those comments have not been confirmed by William or Kensington Palace.

Harry Reportedly Seeking Contributions From Diana’s Circle

Richard Kay previously claimed Harry had been reaching out to people who personally knew Diana as part of the reported project.

The aim is said to be creating a tribute focused on her life and legacy, although the Sussexes have not formally announced a documentary.

The Woman’s Day source also claimed Harry and Meghan have already been gathering footage and have received support from members of the Spencer family.

That claim has not been independently confirmed.

According to the insider, there is little preventing the couple from moving ahead with the project other than William’s reported opposition.

The timing is particularly sensitive because speculation has recently increased about whether Harry and William could eventually repair their relationship.

Harry’s return to Britain has renewed discussion around possible reconciliation, but reports continue to suggest that major disagreements remain unresolved.

Kate Drawn Into Diana Legacy Claims

Princess Kate has now also been pulled into the reported dispute.

The source claimed William feels that if anyone reflects aspects of Diana’s legacy, it is his wife.

“[William] says if anyone is like Diana, it’s Kate,” the insider alleged.

They described Kate as being equally devoted to Diana’s memory but in what they called a “much less showy way.”

That assessment remains the source’s interpretation and has not been publicly expressed by William himself.

Diana’s legacy has remained deeply personal to both of her sons.

Harry has repeatedly spoken about his mother’s influence on his life and charitable work, while William has also referenced the impact she had on his approach to public service and parenting.

Any documentary centred on Diana would therefore inevitably attract intense scrutiny, particularly if Meghan were given a prominent role.

For now, however, the project remains unconfirmed.

There has been no official announcement from Harry or Meghan, and Kensington Palace has not commented on reports describing William as “horrified.”

The latest claims therefore point to potential tension rather than a confirmed royal dispute.
