Al Roker & Dylan Dreyer Recently Had A Big Surprise For Today Viewers

Roker is known for his work as a weather presenter on NBC’s Today, in addition to co-hosting the show’s third hour. He got his start with the network in 1978 while working with a Cleveland-based NBC affiliate station.

Dreyer is a meteorologist and an anchor for Today‘s 3rd Hour, joining NBC News in 2012. While Dreyer has occasionally filled in for Roker on Today, she’s also worked alongside him. In fact, she recently appeared in a video with him on social media, showing a recent change for the talk show.

Normally, the show films out of New York City, but the crew is about to head up north for a recent episode. In a recent video shared by Today‘s Instagram, the co-anchors could be seen riding a train. As the caption read, “The TODAY Show 3rd hour is in Alaska this week! Tune in tomorrow on TODAY.” It was noted that the video was being sponsored by Visit Anchorage.In the video, Dreyer shared, “I can’t go to Alaska this week, I’m busy.” Roker, who appeared to be sitting alongside Kaylee Hartung, added, “Same! We definitely can’t make a trip to Alaska right now.” Dreyer jokingly shrugged as they began to enjoy the scenery. The video then ended on a scene of the three taking a selfie.

Today continued to pay tribute to the 49th state in follow-up videos. One video shows the three out and about in the state. As the caption teased, The Alaska Railroad, King Salmon fishing, Wild Scoops ice cream and THIS VIEW!! See our Alaska adventures during the 3rd hour, tomorrow on TODAY!” Fans were treated to scenes of fishing and snow-capped mountains.

The Today website also teased what fans could expect during the trip. As it shared, Roker, Dreyer, and Hartung were heading up to Anchorage to see the summer solstice. Serving as “one of the brightest and longest times of the year,” the Today crew will see nearly 24 hours of daylight.

In addition, the Today crew will enjoy the food, culture, and nature. The co-hosts will also go sightseeing, as teased in the videos, and get to meet with locals.

Visiting Anchorage was also said to have become easier in recent years as airlines have added new flights across North America. In addition, the city has seen new hotels and renovated locations opening this month.
