EXCLUSIVE: Joy Reid Announces Major Career NEWS AFTER Shocking Msnbc Firing

The former MSNBC host left the station in a shock exit in February, in what she described as an ’emotional’ departure including anger, disappointment, and gratitude

Former MSNBC host Joy Reid has revealed a new career path just two months after stepping down from her news debate show.

Reid using to host The ReidOut, which was a constant evening programming on MSNBC since 2020 and would air at 7 pm ET. In the show, the 56-year-old would tackle a variety of political issues and interview political as well as public figures. The show picked up various awards and recognitions, but was still axed in a surprise move by the channel.

In a new Instagram post, Reid revealed she’s not left politics behind as she joins up with political movement group State of the People and will be going on tour. She wrote in a post: “Ten cities… one mission … Who’s coming??? Tag your city in the comments and get more details at http://stateoftheppl.com.”

Fans of the star have been quick to comment, with many asking her to visit their city and make an appearance.

One person wrote: “Columbia, SC. I would even drive to Charleston or Charlotte.” Another shared: “Hope you come to Chicago!!!” A third posted: “Come on down to San Diego! Come check us out.”

In February it was rumored Reid was stepping down from MSNBC, with the news was confirmed by Joy and the network’s new president Rebecca Kulter.

“Joy Reid is leaving the network and we thank her for her countless contributions over the years,” Rebecca wrote in a memo to staff. “Her work has been recognized with several esteemed honors, including most recently, the 2025 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding News Series”.

Joy took to social media to confirm her departure hours before the memo. She expressed gratitude to others and pride for her show.

She wrote: “I just want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with kindness and encouragement, both personally and in these social media streets.

“So very proud of The Reidout @joy.msnbc.com team, who are truly family, and all of our supporters & friends. See you tomorrow night at 7, one more time.”

Before her social media post statement, Joy addressed her exit with Win With Black Women in a call stream on YouTube on Sunday, Feb 23. She shared that following Monday was going to be her last show and said she’s “been through every emotion” in the aftermath of the news such as anger, disappointment and gratitude.

“My show had value,” she stated before elaborated on the topics her show dive into. “Whether it was the Black Lives Matter issues … (or) talking about Gaza and the fact that we as the American people have … a right to object to little babies being bombed … I am not sorry that I stood up for those things.”
