As one of the familiar faces on Fox & Friends, Steve Doocy isn’t just a seasoned anchor — he’s the proud patriarch of a media-savvy family. While viewers may recognize his son Peter Doocy from the White House briefing room, the entire Doocy family has carved a meaningful presence both in and beyond the newsroom.

Steve’s wife, Kathy Gerrity Doocy, met him while working in the sports department at WRC-TV, where he was a reporter. A former model with on-air experience from ESPN, Kathy has been Steve’s partner in both life and publishing. Together, they’ve co-authored two bestselling cookbooks: The Happy Cookbook (2018) and The Happy in a Hurry Cookbook (2020). “Dinner was always a special time,” Steve told Deseret News. “We’d talk about everything. That was the richest family time we had.”

Beyond Peter, Steve and Kathy have two daughters: Mary and Sally. Sally graduated in advertising from Southern Methodist University and later joined Fox News as a sales planner. Mary, on the other hand, pursued law, graduating from Villanova University and working in various legal and government roles in Washington, D.C.

While Steve hasn’t officially become a grandfather yet, he’s already written about fatherhood in his 2008 book Tales from the Dad Side. It’s filled with humorous and heartfelt stories, including the time he missed Peter’s first words because he was mowing the lawn — a moment Kathy claims included the phrase “trust fund.”

In a note to readers, Steve described the book as “a collection of real-life adventures about being a dad and a son,” humorously adding, “For the same money, you can either buy three gallons of gas or this book — which delivers 29 smiles per hour.”
