LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers remains a center of conversation, but Luka Doncic does not panic. As outside noise grows louder and doubts rise about the Lakers’ direction, Doncic stays focused. He believes the Lakers are better with LeBron and is not shy about showing it.
Doncic and LeBron played 23 games together last season and led the Lakers to a 15-8 record in that stretch. Doncic averaged 27.7 points, while LeBron added 23.7. The duo had real chemistry, even as the team fell short in the playoffs. James, at 40, is still playing at an elite level. Doncic knows his potential and values what James brings on and off the court.
“Luka Doncic doesn’t want to push LeBron out of Los Angeles, and wants him to retire in LA,” per DALHoopsJournal reports. He is not standing by James; he is building around him. After Dorian Finney-Smith left for Houston, Doncic quietly helped bring in Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton. He is taking ownership of the franchise, but not at James’ expense.
James did not hint at leaving. With Luka now leading the locker room and front office direction, one thing is clear: the partnership is far from finished.
Luka Doncic Meets Criticism Again For His Fitness

Doncic trimmed down ahead of his first full season with the Lakers, but criticism still follows him. Despite showing off a lean physique on the cover of Men’s Health, questions remain about his long-term conditioning.
NBA analyst Skip Bayless criticized Luka on his podcast and called his fitness “a crash diet.” He doubted whether he could keep it up all season and also questioned whether the photos were real.
“The guy who ran out of gas was the fat guy. The guy with the inner tube around his waist, that guy with two chins, not one but two: the Luka guy,” Bayless said. “They brought the reporters over to Croatia to the resort to watch him in action.”
Still, Doncic seems locked in. He is motivated, in shape, and ready to thrive. Now, the focus shifts to whether he can sustain it through the season.
