In a sh0cking (but not entirely surprising) move, Richard Gere has announced that he is moving to Spain and never returning to the United States. The reason? Elon Musk’s growing influence on American society.

“I cannot live in a world where Elon Musk controls everything,” Gere said in a statement. “I need to find a place where I can escape his influence.”

Gere isn’t the only
celebrity to express concerns about Musk’s influence. In recent months, a number of
celebrities and politicians have criticized the tech billionaire for his cryptic tweets and controversial opinions.

“Elon Musk is a danger to society,” wrote one Twitter user. “He needs to be stopped.”
“I agree with Richard Gere,” wrote another. “I’m also concerned about Elon Musk’s influence.”
It’s unclear at this point whether Gere is actually moving to Spain. But one thing is for sure: his statement has sparked a heated debate about Elon Musk’s influence on society.
And in a related development, Musk also tweeted that he is developing a new test that can detect whether a person is a celebrity or not. “It’s called ‘The Celebrity Detector,’” Musk tweeted. “And it’s available tomorrow.”
