Kay Burley has shared her honest opinion on her former rival Laura Kuenssberg, after quitting Sky News and appearing on Laura’s BBC Sunday programme. Kay was part of the panel on Sunday (July 13) to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence, social media rules and free speech. Also appearing on the programme were Inaya Folarin Iman and Ian Russell.
It was a behind-the-scenes snap, however, that confirmed how Kay really feels about her BBC counterpart. She shared a snap of the pair both beaming at the camera with their faces pressed together, writing on X: “Loved catching up with @bbclaurak this morning. She’s too good for my liking though.”
It comes as fans have been demanding Laura be replaced by her BBC co-star Victoria Derbyshire, who has stood in for the broadcaster on several occasions.
Viewers took to social media to air their opinions, with one writing: “I’ve said it before: Laura Kuenssberg needs to be replaced by much more competent Victoria Derbyshire.”
Someone else posted: “I won’t be watching again until she is…” while a third agreed: “Can’t watch while that Laura Kuenssberg is on, so biased she’s a joke.”
Others rushed to Laura’s defence, with one fuming: “No way… Laura is much sharper to the point.” Another posted: “Just stop watching then! You’re boring.”

Another fan told the original commenter: “You say it every week and every week I think why does this chump watch a programme he hates every week?”
In February this year, Kay Burley announced she would step back from Sky News after 36 years, in which time she covered 12 general elections as well as everything from the London Olympics to the 9/11 terror attack.
