“Dad, I miss you” – Fox News host Bill Hemmer’s Tearful Farewell to his Father leaves viewers Heartbroken!
William Hemmer, aka William R. Hemmer, was the father of Bill Hemmer, co-anchor of FOX News Channel’s America’s Newsroom. According to his obituary, Hemmer passed away while being surrounded by his loving family at his home on February 1, 2025. He was 85.
Hemmer was born in Evansville, Indiana , to the owners of the Hemmer Feed and Seed Company. He began his career at Shillito’s and later worked at Adam Wuest Inc. as Senior Vice President in Cincinnati. Throughout his life, he was a professional sales executive who made friends easily on the job.
After his passing, Hemmer left behind his loving wife, Georganne, to whom he was married for 63 years. He was also a dedicated father to his five children, Tracy Miehls, W. Andrew Hemmer, William G. Hemmer, Ann H. Ryan, and Kris Sikora. He also leaves behind his 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
William Hemmer is also survived by his sister Mary Lee Dozier and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

America’s Newsroom also paid a heartfelt homage to Bill Hemmer’s father William Hemmer. Dana Perino, Bill’s co- anchor , expressed their sincere “love and condolences” to her colleague’s father. She said:
“Bill’s dad, the inevitable William R Hemmer. He passed away on Saturday. He lived an incredible 85 years. He was one of a kind.”
“He was married to his wife Georganne for 63 years and they had five children, of course Bill is one of them, 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and there are more on the way. William was so very proud of his family and we are wishing them all the very best,” Perino added.
Perino added that Bill revealed his parents rarely spent a night apart in the 63 years of their union. They found love very early. Their family has also lived up to the tradition and went on trips together and “everybody had to show up.” Moreover, they called it their “Hemmer Hodge.” They further wished their best to Bill Hemmer.

Bill Hemmer, who often talks about his father fondly, took to his Instagram handle to pen how William Hemmer lived a happy life. In a quirky manner, he mentioned how his father was sarcastic and wished for him to rest in peace:
“I loved this man and every single moment I had with him. He was wise, funny, ethical, graduated top of his class from the School of Sarcasm. He left his mark: 63 years of marriage, five children, 11 grandchildren, six great grandchildren (and climbing). My Father: William R Hemmer, 85, left us for heaven on the morning of February 1st, 2025. Rest forever in gentle peace.”
