TODAY star Carson Daly has ditched a couple of episodes of the morning show to attend a different on-air gig.
Carson’s Today co-host Sheinelle Jones covered for him on the NBC program’s Tuesday show.

Carson, 50, normally leads Today’s daily segment, PopStart; however, because of his absence, Sheinelle, 45, did so.
Some of the topics discussed during PopStart were the Plaza Hotel’s Home Alone experience, based on the film of the same name, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, and The Voice.
Had Carson not been across the country attending to his hosting duties for The Voice, Sheinelle wouldn’t have had to take over his segment.
The Voice now airs live on Mondays and Tuesdays, preventing Carson from being present on Today those days since The Voice is filmed in Hollywood, California.
Hence he skipped Today yesterday.
Carson was not in the studio to handle his PopStart segment during Monday’s episode Today, either.
Sheinelle sat in for Carson like she did today, and introduced PopStart with news about Beyonce.
Unlike when some morning hosts go missing, however, neither Sheinelle nor any of the other anchors mentioned where Carson had gone.
ALL JOKES
A week ago, Carson mocked co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin during the morning show.
Everyone, including Carson and Savannah, Craig, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker reported live from the Today Plaza.
Several of the audience members were dressed up in holiday costumes, including a pair of attendees who were adorned with Christmas ornaments, but missing their tree topper hats.
Al chatted with them briefly, where they joked about losing that part of their costume.
In the next show, both Savannah and Craig were seen donning the Christmas tree toppers.
They joked about asking if they could borrow them for later in the day.
Carson took one look at the pair and made a snide remark.
“You look like Christmas coneheads,” he said while barely holding in laughter.
Everyone erupted in laughter.
“That’s a throwback,” Al said, while Carson pointed at him and laughed in acknowledgment.
“You have to have a lot of neck strength for these,” Savannah said as she adjusted hers.
The hosts then moved on, but Savannah and Craig left the hats on until they went to commercial.
OUCH!
Earlier in November, Carson made another shady comment.
In that instance, he aimed his sights at Blake Shelton’s wife and The Voice coach Gwen Stefani.
During a recent episode of the game show Barmageddon, Gwen made an appearance.
She was part of the set of bar games for the night and paired up with a partner.
Contestants were asked to throw basketballs at colored targets as part of one of the episode’s bar games.
“Team Gwen, you’re up first,” host Nikki Garcia called out during one of the show’s segments.
“You ready, Susan?” Gwen, 54, asked before getting started.
She and Susan walked over to grab a basketball and throw.
“I’m so good at this,” she added.
The No Doubt frontwoman was poised to take her shot before her husband Blake told her to aim a bit lower before she threw her basketball.
“You gotta go a bit lower. That’s the trick,” he said.
