Daughter’s dating story goes viral – What did George Stephanopoulos and wife Ali Wentworth say?
However, on Ali’s most recent Go Ask Ali podcast episode at the end of December, the doting parent gave an insight into their parenting style when answering a question about teenagers dating.
Reading out some questions from listeners who were wanting her advice, Ali gave her opinion to a parent who was looking for help with her own teens who had expressed an interest in wanting to start dating.
“How did you and husband handle dating with your kids?” they asked.
Ali answered: “Oh my god, dating! Well, dating at 14 and 15 is fine. They are old enough to ask someone out, and go to the movies or go out for a Happy Meal or whatever that means.
“But I think in terms of asking someone for a romantic rendez vous is completely fine. I think it’s very sweet that they want to date rather than just like each other on Instagram or hook up.

“So be good listeners and be good advisers, ask them where they are going, see if they need to borrow some money, and encourage it. But also keep a dialogue with them about it.”
Ali and George are parents to teenage daughters Elliott and Harper, and reside in the Upper East Side of New York, close to George’s job at Good Morning America.
Ali previously gave an insight into their family dynamics during an interview in 2016.

AChatting to Harry Connick Jr, she said: “I have two girls. George is the only guy in the house. For some reason, he gets beat up constantly. He is always wrong. He is an idiot. He is a loser, but in a loving way.”
The family recently enjoyed an extra special Christmas together, marking their first following Elliott’s move to college.
Ali admitted when her firstborn left home in September that it had been “brutal” but couldn’t be prouder watching her thrive independently.
