Emmerdale and EastEnders schedule disrupted by football – viewers divided, call for Solutions and demand Respect!
ITV Emmerdale fans have been left confused about the schedule changes to their favourite soaps this week. It’s been an eventful few weeks in the Dales – but fans getting ready to watch the soap tonight may have to change their plans.
Usually, the soap airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 for half an hour, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. Those who don’t want to wait until the evening have the option to watch the episode at 6am when it drops on ITVX.
However, unfortunately the soap won’t air tonight due to International Football coverage.
England’s Men’s Team will be The City Ground in Nottingham to take on Senegal in a friendly match. Coverage starts at 7pm, with the match kicking off at 7.45.
The soap will be back to its regular schedule from tomorrow. Unfortunately, the next episode isn’t available on ITVX yet either.
Frustrated fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter to complain, as one wrote: “Emmerdale cancelled again because of football? so frustrating .. why not just move the episode to ITV 2 for the night?”
Another penned: “No Emmerdale tonight boo. I am sure you can guess why!”

The cancellation of the episode comes after a nail biting cliffhanger saw John trying to get Cain off the hook.
He’s a prime suspect in the m::rder investigation, and m::rderer John was left feeling sorry for him after he said he needed to grieve his son.
Emmerdale isn’t the only soap that has faced a schedule shake-up this week. EastEnders fans will have to wait until tonight for their first trip to Albert Square this week.
The soap was pulled from BBC1 yesterday after the channel aired the 2026 World Cup qualifier between Belgium and Wales.
Although, eager fans were able to take their first trip to Albert Square yesterday on iPlayer. The soap will resume its usual iPlayer schedule of Monday – Thursday this week, however, the soap will air on BBC1 from Tuesday – Friday.
Yesterday, some EastEnders fans were also left furious, as one penned: “EASTENDERS IS NOT ON TONIGHT #EastEnders”.
It’s set to be a huge week in the soap as Kat and Alfie prepare to tie the knot once again – but will it be third time lucky for the couple?
