Sam Kuffel, the meteorologist who went viral for calling Erin Andrews out over her weather report, has been fired from CBS’ Milwaukee affiliate following some controversial actions.
Kuffel accused Andrews of making up a fake weather report during a game between the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in November, taking to X to ask the FOX reporter to refrain from fabricating weather alerts after she claimed winds of up to 43 miles per hour were expected.
“Begging Erin Andrews to stop making up weather alerts,” she wrote in a tweet, which she later deleted, “stuff like this makes me irrationally angry.”
Andrews would fire back after reading about the tweet.
“hey Sam! Just saw the story [about] your tweet,” she wrote. “Let me know the best way to touch base. Wanted to show you where Fox security (working the game) and I got our Weather Alert for the Packers game! Thx!!”
Erin Andrews Did Not Get Sam Kuffel Fired
Kuffel’s exchange with Andrews had nothing to do with her dismissal, but social media activity was at the center of it.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the CBS 58 weather reporter was terminated after sharing posts branding Elon Musk a “Nazi” after his curious gesture at Donald Trump’s inauguration earlier this week.
“Dude Nazi saluted twice. TWICE. During the inauguration,” she wrote as the caption to an image of Musk with a hand on his chest. “You f**k with this and this man, I don’t f**k with you. Full stop.”
She also posted a GIF from the TV show ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ captioned “Screw that old b**ch. He’s a Nazi.”
Kuffel was relieved of her post the following day, with said outlet obtaining a memo from the network’s news director, Jessie Garcia, revealing as much.
“Meteorologist Sam Kuffel is no longer employed at CBS58,” it reads. “A search for a replacement is underway.”
As for Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO, who also owns X, has denied his gesture was a Nazi salute despite the optics.
“Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired,” he wrote in a tweet.
He has since made multiple satirical posts responding to the criticism.
