The Houston Texans might be down, but they are certainly not out.
Texans standout running back Joe Mixon made that clear during his end-of-year meeting with reporters after the team was ousted from the playoffs by the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.
The Bengals traded Mixon to the Texans in March 2024 in exchange for the 224th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He rewarded the team by running for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. He also had 36 catches for 309 yards and one touchdown.
It appears the team might not be down getting assets from Cincinnati.
On Monday, Mixon stated Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio is currently working on something huge this offseason.
“I know for a fact Nick has something cooked up, and fireworks will be here real soon.”
It should be noted that Tee Higgins is Mixon’s former teammate and he is currently scheduled to hit free agency.
The Houston Texans could use Higgins if they lose out on getting Stefon Diggs back. Tank Dell might not be able to play again until 2026.
Mixon ran for 88 yards and one touchdown in Houston’s 23-14 loss to Kansas City on Saturday.
Two Costly Penalties Stopped The Houston Texans From Defeating The Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the AFC championship game for a seventh consecutive season after a 23-14 victory over the Houston Texans.
The NFL senior VP of officiating, Walt Anderson, stood by multiple penalties against the Texans for unnecessary roughness and roughing the passer, which resulted in the Chiefs scoring ten points.
It made all the difference in the final score.
The Texans appear to be on the cusp of doing something great. One more great offseason could get them over the hump.
