GMA host Lara Spencer and the 72-Year-Old Man: The Relationship Stirring Up GMA Backstage! What’s the Truth?
When Lara Spencer’s favorite band, The Police, broke up, she was one “devastated” 14-year-old. But the Flea Market Flip and Good Morning America host experienced a dream come true this summer. When she went to see Police frontman Sting perform in Aspen, the rock star was “feeling nostalgic” and stunned the audience by “playing 16 of The Police’s biggest hits.”
In a gushing Instagram post, Spencer, 55, thanked her husband Richard McVey for kicking off the concert initiative. “At 55 years young, my husband helped make my teen dream a reality, suggesting we drive to Aspen to see Sting perform,” she wrote in the caption.

Spencer called the show “a ‘Police concert,'” and exclaimed that although “40 years have gone by,” the star sounds “EXACTLY the same without even a hint that might give away his age (72-impossible to believe).” Spencer admired the rocker’s athleticism, adding “He looks, sounds, and moves like he’s under 50!!! (Whatever Sting is doing for Longevity-THAT is what we should all be doing!).”
Spencer called herself a “shameless fangirl” and said that Sting, 72, had a voice that was still “pitch perfect” in a second Instagram post, and that his “biceps were also quite lovely.” Spencer also noted that she saw actor Kevin Costner dancing at the same show.

Spencer has been called away from GMA‘s home studio several times this summer, even reporting on the Olympics live from Paris. The former college swimmer even attempted an artistic swimming routine with co-host James Longman, much the amusement of fans.
She and McVey, a 64-year-old Wall Street magnate, celebrated their six-year wedding anniversary in Vail, CO with friends over Labor Day weekend.
