As she sat alongside brother Simon, Jane admitted that she ‘stopped breathing’ while taking in the programme – which explores themes of misogyny, incel culture and the dangers of the online world.
Elsewhere, as the police burst in to arrest Jamie, Mary asked: ‘How can a little chap like that murder anyone?’, with Julie Malone remarking that her ‘heart is absolutely hammering!’

It comes as Stephen Graham has issued a shock update on a second series of Adolescence after the ‘overwhelming’ response to the record-breaking Netflix hit.
The four-part series has received rave reviews over the past three weeks and many are desperate to know if there will be a second series.
Speaking with Variety, Stephen, who plays Jamie’s dad Eddie Miller, said: ‘Possibly, let’s see how the figures are.
‘But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story.’
Meanwhile Stephen’s wife Hannah Walters, who plays Mrs. Bailey in the show, added of the positive reviews: ‘It’s been overwhelming.’
She also said: ‘A prequel to Adolescence, that’s certainly not going to happen.
‘But there’s so much mileage in the one-shot and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else.

‘But yeah, everything’s looking good… everyone’s happy, shall we say?’
Stephen, who created and wrote the show alongside Jack Thorne, has admitted that he didn’t expect Adolescence to be so popular.
He added to the publication: ‘I suppose what I’m trying to say is that we had no idea that it would impact socially the way it has…
‘But it seems to have cut through all the race, creed and hierarchical structures of society with the message that it’s carrying about our youth.’
Over the weekend Adolescence made British TV history, becoming the first streaming show ever to become the most-watched programme of the week.
The drama has captivated audiences and critics since it hit Netflix earlier this month, with each episode filmed in a single continuous take.
