NBC News meteorologist, Dylan Dreyer, told how her and the Today team checked in regularly with Sheinelle.
“We’re all very, very close. We chat with her often. A week doesn’t go by where we’re not just checking in, seeing how she’s doing,” Dylan told ET.
She added: “We pray for her all the time. We can’t wait for her to come back, so we’re just waiting for that day to come.”
Their co-star Al Roker also shared his thoughts on Sheinelle’s absence.
“The fact of the matter is we’re so grateful to all the fans and viewers who’ve been praying for her and praying for her family and just taking it one day at a time,” Al said.
“And the good news is, this is a family. So, we’ve got each other’s backs and make sure that you’re able to take the time you need to take care of it.”
Prior to her on-air break, Sheinelle had been confirmed to be Hoda Kotb’s replacement in the fourth hour of Today
An insider exclusively told The U.S. Sun that NBC execs had tapped Sheinelle as Jenna Bush Hager’s co-host after she returns from family leave.
Sheinelle, 46, “has the job,” the insider claimed, but added there will not be an announcement until after her leave of absence has ended.
Since her break started, Sheinelle, has only been on social media once in January to let her fans know what was happening.
