“I’ll Be Back After A While” – Gethin Jones’ sh0ck farewell at the end of Morning Live leaves viewers stunned. A break? or something more?
Gethin Jones bids sad farewell to BBC’s Morning Live in latest schedule shake-up
Welsh presenter Gethin Jones said goodbye to BBC viewers as the beloved daytime show Morning Live is being pulled off-air next week.
Gethin Jones stunned Morning Live viewers after he shared a video on social media saying farewell. The Welsh presenter uploaded a video to his official Instagram page saying that the beloved BBC show will be saying goodbye for a few weeks.
The host then confirmed later at the end of the show that Morning Live would be taking short break. He said: “Crimewatch Live is next and from next week it will be on at the earlier time of 9.30 as we’re taking a little break. Thank you for watching, stay safe, we will see you on Monday 8th of April.”
This isn’t the first time that Morning Live has been pulled from air from it’s usual slot. The BBC programme took an extended break from December 16 until the new year.
During their final broadcast of 2023, Gethin said: “That is nearly all we’ve got time for you today, we’re having a little break for Christmas.
“But we’ll be back with you on Tuesday, the 2nd of January for a new, longer show starting at 9:30am until 10:45am.” Co-presenter Kimberley added: “We’ll see you soon, Merry Christmas.”

During today’s programme, Gethin and the rest of the team spoke about Comic Relief as Sir Lenny Henry gears himself to host his last ever Red Nose Day.
The comedian is preparing to step down from his role as host after almost four decades. He will be passing his duties over to a new successor, with names such as Alesha Dixon, AJ Odudu and Romesh Ranganathan being suggested.
Lenny Henry’s replacement as host is set to be confirmed on the night of Red Nose Day in a sketch. He will remain life president of the charity which he co-founded with Love Actually director Richard Curtis.

Earlier in the week, hosts Gethin and Kym Marsh were taken aback when a guest used an inappropriate phrase during a cooking demonstration. The pair were joined on the BBC One show by food waste expert Kate Hall.
Whilst Kate was talking about blanching carrots, she said casually: “If you do not have time to blanch the carrots or if you just can’t be a***d”. She quickly realised what she’d just said and interjected: “Sorry, can’t be bothered.”
