New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers can put his legal matters behind him, having been found not guilty on assault charges this Friday, but the case has grown new legs despite being over in the courts.
It’s now suspected that JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was teammates with Peppers for a short spell in New England, may have been involved.
Flint McColgan of the Boston Herald, who covered the trial, included a curious quote from prosecutor Abigail Bird.
🚨BREAKING: #Patriots star Jabrill Peppers’ altercation started when the woman he was with got a call from JuJu Smith-Schuster mid-hookup—with heart emojis by JuJu’s name.
Peppers accused her of being with JuJu & grew upset when she pushed for unprotected s*x…

“He didn’t want her to be his girlfriend. But he didn’t want her to sleep with his teammate,” it reads. “He didn’t want her to be his girlfriend, but he wanted her to know, while they were having sex, that it felt different, that she had been with another man.”
Peppers was arrested for assault back in October after his supposed girlfriend accused him of choking her and pushing her head into a wall because she got a phone call while they were having sex around 4:00 in the morning.
The player always maintained his innocence.
Jabrill Peppers Was Not Happy After Seeing His Ex-Teammate’s Name Appear On Woman’s Phone
This week’s courtroom revelations point to Smith-Schuster as the source of Peppers’ frustrations due to his name appearing next to heart emojis when the phone rang.

The woman said Peppers had told her she was being a “h*e” and sleeping around; the call only served to make him more apprehensive.
The safety claimed he got annoyed because she kept trying to hop on him to get him to have unprotected sex, and he wasn’t ready to take it there.
While Smith-Schuster hasn’t been confirmed as the caller, it does appear that there was some sort of triangle in play.
Jabrill Peppers’ arrest came two months after the Patriots released the wide receiver. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him weeks ahead of the incident.
The player pleaded guilty to cocaine possession earlier in the week; police found a plastic bag of white powder in his wallet when he was arrested. He has been ordered to stay drug-free and to keep his nose clean for four months.
