Mark Labbett left The Chase fans reeling with a vicious swipe at an ‘absolutely gutted’ contestant as her unpopular tactic seriously backfired on Monday.
The most recent episode of the ITV show saw players Caroline, Matthew, Lizzy and Graham take on Mark AKA The Beast in a bid to win the cash prize.
The first player to show host Bradley Walsh what they were made of was Caroline and she ended up bagging £6,000 in the cash builder.
Mark offered her a measly £600 as the low offer, but £25,000 for the higher one.
‘I was going to go low,’ she told Bradley.
‘But that is too low. So I’ll stick with my £6,000.’

The most recent episode of the ITV show saw players Caroline (pictured above), Matthew, Lizzy and Graham take on Mark AKA The Beast in a bid to win the cash prize
Bradley asked: ‘Why would you have gone low?!’
Caroline confessed: ‘To get back to play in the final Chase!’
She added: ‘I’d like to beat the Chaser.’
Considering a low offer to save her skin rather than contribute to the pot went down badly with viewers – and to make matters worse Mark caught her anyway and she was booted out of the competition.
Mark didn’t hold back with a brutal comment about her time on the show.
He said: ‘Well, as far as the other three are concerned, no great loss. She wanted to go low, it wasn’t very good, next.’
Those watching at home praised Mark’s decision to offer her £600.
One wrote on X: ‘OMG the first player wanted to go low. Pathetic women #TheChase.’

Another said: ‘The first player at it already, tempted to go low.
A third chimed in: Would have gone low… but that’s too low… well done making offers right! #thechase.’
‘Good serves her right for wanting to go low #TheChase,’ a fourth brutally added.
It comes after other The Chase fans were left shocked by a teacher’s ‘shocking’ blunder and some even swiped ‘call OFSTED quick’ earlier this month.
Four contestants, Janet, James, Izzy and Kahlum, featured on the ITV show.
James, 26, from Cardiff earned a respectable £3,000 in the cash-builder round and then went against Chaser Shaun Wallace, also known as the Dark Destroyer.
He was only one correct answer away from returning to his team and adding cash to the prize pot when Bradley asked the question: ‘In England and Wales, a child can leave school in what month if they are 16 by the end of the summer holidays?’
The student teacher answered ‘May’ and explained, ‘I don’t know, wasn’t sure if it was a trick question. I didn’t know if July was too easy because obviously the school term is until July.’
However, the correct answer was June. Fortunately Shaun answered July, which gave James another chance to win.

Some viewers were surprised that James answered it incorrectly, given his profession, and joked about it on social media.
One posted on X: ‘He calls himself a teacher and doesn’t know yr 11’s can leave in June after their exams. Shocking!’
Another quipped: ‘Call OFSTED quick, this guy is a teacher???’
While someone else chimed in: ‘Please don’t be a teacher James.’
