The official Today show’s Instagram account shared a behind-the-scenes clip.
The short video showed the staff scurrying around the Today studio as everyone got set to start shooting.
“We’re going to make a fifth hour of Today and you’re going to be the host!” Savannah, 52, exclaimed, walking toward Dakota, 34.
“OK! I would love to,” Dakota replied as she and Savannah linked shoulders and posed together for a picture.
The pair then hugged gently and Savannah moved out of the way for Hoda Kotb to embrace Dakota.
“@dakotajohnson, we will happily make a 5th Hour of TODAY if you agree to co-host. thanks for stopping by this morning! #madameweb,” the caption read.
Currently, the Today Show spans four hours as it runs from 7 am ET to 11 am ET.
Adding Dakota as a theoretical extra host would have it running through 12 pm ET.
Dakota is currently promoting Madame Web, a new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It follows a NYC paramedic named Cassandra Webb who discovers she’s a clairvoyant.
Using her powers, she has to figure out a way to protect multiple young women from a mysterious assailant who wants to kill them.
TOO MUCH INFO?
Recently, Savannah felt self-conscious about her love for Netflix’s Love is Blind during a conversation about the show on air.
NBC personalities Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Hoda Kotb, Carson Daly, and Savannah had a brief conversation about Love is Blind’s sixth season on Wednesday’s morning show episode.
Love is Blind was covered during Carson’s, 50, PopStart segment on Today.
The Voice host reported that the dating reality show’s Season 6 premiere would air on February 14, aka Valentine’s Day, and showed a new teaser trailer for fans.
Savannah, 52, disclosed to her fellow morning show moderators that she had seen “every season of the show.”
After a confused Al, 69, who admitted he “didn’t know what was going on,” asked Savannah if she had.
Craig, 44, even asked her what the “premise of [Love is Blind] was.”
Savannah clarified, “OK, they’re testing the proposition that people chat in these pods, and they don’t see each other physically.”
She continued: “[If] they make a connection, they get engaged and then have 30 days to decide if they really want to go through with it and have a wedding, and it goes right to the altar. It’s ‘like, do you want to or do you not want to.'”
Craig was left speechless by Savannah’s detailed explanation.
Seeing his reaction, Savannah asked him, “Did you just lose respect for me?”
He assured her that he didn’t.
AWKWARD…
Savannah has had more embarrassing moments on live television.
In May 2023, Savannah was caught trying to sneak off set after she suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.
Savannah and her co-hosts Hoda, Sheinelle Jones, and Dylan Dreyer headed out to the plaza to meet some fans of the NBC show.
The mother of two perhaps didn’t anticipate how windy it was out in the open.
As Hoda revealed it was their favorite part of the day, Savannah shouted out, “It’s a blustery day!” to which Hoda replied, “It is!”
“I’ve gotta hold my skirt!” she admitted as she clung onto her red, white, and green floral print midi-length garment.
Savannah paired the skirt with a black top and matching heels, but she might have been regretting her choice of attire thanks to the weather.
“The wind is a blowing!” she told her co-hosts before she joked about having a Marilyn Monroe moment as she ran out of shot.
BIG OPPORTUNITIES
Savannah’s wardrobe malfunction comes after she took on another role away from the morning show.
The news anchor got the special opportunity to be the commencement speaker at her alma mater, Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.
Savannah posted snaps on Instagram from the magical day the week before, and it showed her dressed in a blue cap and gown at the ceremony.
In some snapshots, Savannah stood at the podium, smiling before the crowd as she spoke.
Other photos showed her posed with friends and faculty members in the school’s library and outside in the courtyard.
Savannah gushed over the moment in her caption, “What a dream! today I returned to @georgetownlawofficial to give the commencement address. some of my dearest law school friends and former professors came to be together.
“It was magical and I am so grateful,” she added.
The university commented on the post to express gratitude for her participation, “Thank you for joining us today as our commencing speaker and delivering a special and memorable address to our graduates, Savannah!
“It was a pleasure to host you and see you again after all these years. Hoya Saxa!”
Savannah’s big moment comes after she admitted last week that things have been pretty hectic at home as her family is in the middle of moving.
