MSNBC has announced a new talent added to their network following Joy Reid’s depature
The newest talent to join MSNBC has been revealed following a sh0cking show shakeup that resulted in Joy Reid’s firing.
On Tuesday, March 11, the network announced the exciting news that columnist Catherine Rampell will be joining MSNBC as the new co-host of the evening ‘Weekend’ roundtable program. Catherine will be anchoring on the show alongside Ayman Moyehldin and a third, yet-to-be-named host. This spring Catherine will be joining the program as the current news trio – Symone Sanders-Townsend, Michael Steele and Alicia Menendez – move to the network’s 7 p.m. hour.

Catherine is well-qualified for the job as she has an impressive journalism career under her belt. Before joining the MSNBC team, the 40-year-old writer worked as an opinion columnist for The Washington Post, a journalist for the New York Times, and a political commentator for CNN and PBS NewsHour.
Catherine has been reunited by the network as MSNBC consolidates their production operations in an effort to cut costs and attract new audiences. Among these changes included the axing of Joy and her long-time talk show ‘The ReidOut’ which aired on the network for the past five years.

On the The ReidOut, Joy would partake in lively discussions with newsmakers and politicians as they discussed the most pressing issues in the news today. During her show’s run, the 56-year-old television personality was an outspoken supporter of progressive politics and a strong critic of President Donald Tr::mp.
During an interview with the Win With Black Women podcast, Joy emotionally opened up about the disappointing news of her show’s cancellation. She tearfully shared: “I’ve been through every emotion… anger, rage, disappointment, hurt… guilt. You know, [ a feeling] that I let my team lose their jobs. But in the end, where I really land… is just gratitude. Just pure gratitude and gratitude. Not just because people would take the time to get on a call like this or to take care of me. But also that my show had value.”
She went on to add: “Whether it’s talking about any of these issues and, yes, whether it’s talking about Gaza and the fact that we as the American people have a right to object, to have a right to object to little babies being bombed. And and where I come down on that is I’m not sorry. I am not sorry that I stood up for those those things because those things are of God.”
