Cach Mercer and Toni Laites have been crowned as the champions of Love Island 2025. The twelfth series of the ITV2 reality show concluded on Monday night, with viewers witnessing the surprised couple being declared winners, securing the £50,000 prize.

The duo triumphed over their rivals, including fellow finalists Angel Swift and Ty Isherwood, Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan, and Yasmin Pettett and Jamie Rhodes. Following the announcement of their victory, the pair were swarmed by their fellow Islanders in a flurry of congratulations. Despite viewers initially voicing their outrage over the first episode, the series ended overall with positive reviews.

Their win was announced live on air by host Maya Jama. 

Stunned reaction

Upon hearing of their victory, the pair appeared stunned. When asked by Maya if she had any words for the British public, an emotional Toni, originally from the US, managed to exclaim: “Yeah, I love you guys!” Viewers swiftly took to social media to share their reactions, with one commenting: “There you have winners Congratulations to Cach and Toni our American princess took the crown and our handsome and most gentleman we have this year.”

Another commented: “They went from strangers to soulmates,” adding a tears emoji and a red heart, whilst a third remarked: “Toni and Cach are such a deserving couple. Cach taught Toni the bare minimum she should expect in treatment from a man and Toni taught Cach that pride can sometimes stop you getting what you want. I’m here for it.”, reports the Mirror.

How did Cach and Toni meet?

Cach and Toni initially met during Casa Amor and despite forming an immediate bond, it was evident Toni’s affections remained with Harrison.

Harrison had been sharing kisses with Helena in the main villa though, forcing Toni to explore her options, convinced Harrison would be doing likewise.

Naturally, he did exactly that as he returned to the main villa alongside Lauren.

The duo were inseparable, yet Harrison persisted with flirtatious exchanges with Toni.

Harrison subsequently convinced Toni to couple up with him at the following recoupling, leaving Cach heartbroken in scenes that captivated viewers nationwide.

Nevertheless, when Lauren departed the villa, Harrison confided to his fellow Islanders that he envisioned a future relationship with Lauren beyond the show.

Following Harrison’s departure, Cach managed to forgive Toni, despite simultaneously getting acquainted with Billykiss.

However, it appeared his family might require additional persuasion. Leading into the final week, the pair were over the moon despite facing numerous trials and tribulations, with Cach even declaring (rather than requesting) that Toni should become exclusive with him.

While the duo live on opposite sides of the Atlantic, Toni has made it abundantly clear she has no qualms about relocating to London.

During the finale, the four remaining contestants dressed to impress for one last supper together, with eventual runners-up Harry and Shakira looking back on their romantic journey throughout the series.

Love confession

She confessed to him: “Doing this experience without you and watching things unfold was so hard because I felt so strongly towards you. You’re everything I could possibly want in a partner. It’s been an amazing last week and I’m excited for the future.”

Before pairing up with Shakira, Harry had enjoyed a lengthy romance with Helena Ford, followed by his former flame Emma Munro making a surprise arrival at the villa before departing in the weeks preceding the finale.

Shakira was originally matched with Harry during the early stages of the competition, but they reunited just days before the final, with him telling her: “I came in here and thought it would be a lot of fun. Finding you in a Villa in Mallorca was not on my bingo card this summer. I do regret taking too long to tell you how I felt. We both know this is more than surface level – I think it always has been for me.”
