TODAY star Craig Melvin has seemed to be ditching the morning show to get an early start on his weekend.

Craig was absent from the morning show news desk on Friday, leaving his co-stars to run the Today show and Today’s Third Hour without him.

It was evident that the 45-year-old NBC personality was going to be gone early on in the show.

Instead of Craig being at the roundtable during the opening show segment like usual, it was only his co-stars Savannah Guthrie, 51, Hoda Kotb, 59, Carson Daly, 50, and Al Roker, 69.

Savannah, Hoda, Carson, and Al kept the ball rolling amid Craig’s nonappearance.

Al revealed that Craig was not there for Friday’s episode because he “had the day off.”

Yesterday, Craig attended Today momentarily, filling in for Savannah, who was reporting from Washington, D.C.

Craig has skipped Today more than once this month.

He ditched the news program last Monday, too.

His wife, Lindsay Czarniak, 45, dropped a hint about his location on social media at the time.

Sheinelle Jones, 45, filled in for him, joining Savannah and Hoda at the anchor desk.

The hosts did not address Craig’s absence on the show.

MISSING IN ACTION

Before Today’s October 2 episode, Lindsay shared a photo on her Instagram that hinted at where Craig was.

It was a snap of her standing in front of a sign that read “Taylor Swift Education Center.”

The exhibit is in Nashville, Tennessee, and although there is no sign of Craig in the photo, he could have been the one taking the photo.

Lindsay captioned the post with a red heart emoji along with two hashtags: “#taylorswift #nfl.”

It is not clear when Craig will be back or if he is in Nashville with his wife.

FIGHTING SICKNESS

Craig was also missing last Friday, and Savannah explained his absence then.

Savannah told fans that Sheinelle was filling in for Craig because he was “a bit under the weather this morning.”

It is not clear if Craig is still sick or if he is in Nashville with his wife.

The anchor was also out last Monday and Tuesday for an assignment on the show.

NOT WHAT’S EXPECTED

Craig’s replacement on Today’s Third Hour episode that aired on September 25 was an unusual one.

“Good Monday morning and welcome to the Third Hour of Today,” Al opened the show.

“Sheinelle is here, and we’ve got out Today show contributor, and Peloton superstar, Ally Love, is here, spending the morning. We’re so thrilled to have you with us.”

Ally is a fitness instructor for Peloton and the in-arena host of the Brooklyn Nets.

She joined Today as a contributor in May.

Ally shares her top health and fitness tips with the hosts and viewers whenever she is on the show.

Al then explained that Craig and Dylan Dreyer, 42, were out of the studio on assignment for an event.

The hosts were at the Bottoms Up convention, which benefits the colorectal cancer alliance.

Craig’s brother and father-in-law were both diagnosed with colorectal cancer, so it was a cause close to his heart.
