Tom Brady’s up-and-down first year in the broadcast booth has led to speculation that he could walk away from the final nine years on his deal with FOX, but that apparently won’t be the case.
FOX signed Tom Brady to a lucrative 10-year broadcaster contract worth $375 million in 2022, before he began his final NFL season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After a year off from football, Brady entered the broadcast in September.
Brady’s performance has drawn mixed reviews, with many critics calling for him to give up the gig despite the amount of money remaining on his deal. But according to Don Yee, Brady’s longtime agent, the plan is for the seven-time Super Bowl champion to finish the entirety of his 10-year deal.
Don Yee discussed his client’s commitment to FOX during an interview with Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal:
“Tom has had a tremendous amount of fun working with Fox this year, and he’s really excited about the future with Fox and his growth on their team. And this year was the first year of a long relationship.”
Brady was assigned to FOX’s top commentary team with play-by-play voice Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews. Many were upset when Brady got to replace Greg Olsen on the No. 1 team, and the former Pro Bowl tight end was moved to the No. 2 team with Joe Davis.
Burkhardt, Brady and Andrews will call the Detroit Lions-Washington Commanders Divisional Round Game at Ford Field on Saturday. They’ll be on the air for the NFC Championship the following week and wrap up the 2024 season by calling Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Tom Brady Is Making The Right Call
During the 2024 regular season, Brady received approval to join the Las Vegas Raiders’ ownership group, purchasing a minority stake from Mark Davis. However, that means Brady must follow a strict set of rules that includes no criticism of the NFL officials.
Despite those restrictions, Brady has managed to provide plenty of energy and in-depth analysis during each game assignment. As such, it’s only fair that he continues his commitment to FOX, knowing there’s plenty of room to get better.
