On Wednesday morning, Good Morning America fell into deep sorrow when veteran host Robin Roberts tearfully shared the news about the departure of Tony Greer, a cameraman who had worked at ABC for over six years. Tony p@ssed aw@y from complications caused by C0V1D-19.

Speaking from her home’s dining table, Robin Roberts struggled to hold back tears as she told viewers: “We have incredibly tough news to share with everyone. Today is a sad day for our GMA family. We know the pandem1c has affected many, and now it has taken one of our own. Our talented studio camera operator, Tony Greer, has p@ssed aw@y due to complications from the v1rus.”
At 59, Robin fondly remembered Tony as a “bright light” with a spirit “so beautiful you could feel it from a mile away.” She shared that Tony loved his family, taking nieces and nephews around the city, loved his longtime girlfriend Robin, and enjoyed playing guitar with his band.
She paused to compose herself, then offered heartfelt condolences to Tony’s family and friends, especially his mother: “Your son was a good man, kind, thoughtful, and always a gentleman. You can’t ask for more than that.”
Other colleagues on the show also paid tribute. As of Wednesday morning, over 400,000 cases of C0V1D-19 had been confirmed in the U.S., with at least 12,857 d3@ths and more than 21,700 recoveries.
