Her usual partner, Jenna, was nowhere to be found.
“It is Wednesday, the tenth day of January, look who’s here!” Hoda, 59, said as she walked out on stage with replacement host Laura Jarrett.
“I’ve got my friend here. If you watch weekends you know her, if you’re into the law you know her, if you’re into nice people you know her, her name is Laura Jarrett,” Hoda continued.
“Laura’s new to NBC. Jenna is under the weather, she’s not feeling great today, but I’m so happy you are here!” she added.
“They let me out of my Saturday cage!” Laura, 40, exclaimed.
Laura is now a co-anchor for Saturday’s Today Show coverage.
She is also a senior legal correspondent for NBC.
Jenna has not given any updates as to how sick she is.
It’s not clear yet if she’ll return on Thursday or if this will be a multi-day situation.
If Jenna remains away from her position, it’s possible Laura may be in to host for her again in the meantime.

Kevin Hart snapped at Jenna during his interview on Tuesday.
The comedian yelled over her and Hoda Kotb after Jenna brought up a touchy subject.
On Tuesday, Kevin, 44, stopped by Today With Hoda and Jenna to talk about his Netflix movie Lift.
He also discussed his time at LeBron James’ New Year’s Eve party, his wife, being a dad, and more.
While talking about being a dad, the hosts showed a video of Kevin dancing with his children.
They all stood outside in Philadelphia Eagles jerseys and danced around like they didn’t have a care in the world.
“That’s what we do before Eagles games,” Kevin told Hoda, 59, and Jenna, 42.
“I’m sorry about the Eagles!” Jenna said.
The Philadelphia Eagles were looking like they might make it to the Superbowl once again this season, but with their recent losses, fans are hoping for a wildcard win.
‘ALRIGHT!’
Hoda and Jenna apologized about Kevin’s home football team and then the yelling began.
“Alright! Alright! What just happened?” he asked, raising his voice and looking at the producers.
“I feel bad!” Jenna said, putting his cards on top of her head.
Kevin said that the interview took a weird shift.
“They were doing so well,” Hoda tried to calm down the actor.
“I don’t need y’all to remind me what’s happening,” Kevin said, as Hoda cracked up.
“Can we talk about Lift? Ok, that’s enough!”
“We’re in shambles about it,” Kevin said, after Jenna apologized.
“You know the last time we did a dance? It’s been five weeks!”
Kevin said that the hosts “made him cry” and that the interview turned into a “hurtful environment.”
‘HE’S ALL OF US!’
The morning show posted the clip to their Instagram page and had many fans agreeing with Kevin.
“Kevin is all of us #WhyEaglesWhy,” wrote one follower.
“We’re in shambles (but seriously),” another said, adding a laughing emoji.
“This was hilarious,” a third added.
“@kevinhart4real is all of us Eagles fans,” a fan commented.
“I laughed out loud #flyeaglesfly #birdgang,” said another.
