Taylor Swift has officially regained ownership of all her original music, buying back the masters of her first six albums from Shamrock Capital-the private equity firm that acquired them after the now-infamous sale by Big Machine Records to Scooter Braun in 2019.
After years of battles, rerecordings, and heartbreak, Swift now owns it all: the songs, the videos, the album art, and even unreleased material. Swift broke the news on her website Friday with an emotional letter to fans. She captioned the accompanying Instagram post, “You belong with me,” alongside a nostalgic photo collage of her early albums.
“I really get to say these words: All of the music I’ve ever made… now belongs… to me,” she wrote. “I’ve been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out that this is really happening.”
The Mahomes always backing Taylor
Among the millions cheering her on? None other than Brittany Mahomes. The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes reposted Swift’s announcement to her Instagram story, writing, “Just so amazing,” with teary-eyed and heart emojis. Patrick chimed in too, reposting the news on X (formerly Twitter).
Swift’s close bond with the Mahomeses has grown since her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce became public in 2023. Brittany and Taylor quickly became fixtures in the VIP suites during Chiefs games, sharing laughs, champagne toasts, and now-celebrations of musical milestones.

With this move, Swift closes the final chapter of a saga that began nearly two decades ago. Her journey to reclaim her art inspired her to re-record and re-release her albums under the “Taylor’s Version” banner, thrilling fans and rewriting industry rules in the process.
“I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen,” she confessed. “But that’s all in the past now.”
