GMB announce Peter Mandelson bombshell – and it’s bad news for Starmer

Documents relating to the appointment of Lord Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the US are expected to be published later today, but it could be an embarrassing turn for Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Good Morning Britain opened up the show with the news as Louisa James reported that the release of the documents could provide “more embarrassing, more damaging detail” while the Prime Minister is “already in a very precarious position”.
She explained that the latest update is the second batch of documents released since Mandelson was sacked over his links to Jeffrey Epstein, but they are expected to include hundreds or thousands of emails, WhatsApps, and texts between Lord Mandelson and various government ministers and advisors – and some of those messages could prove to be bad for Starmer.
Louisa continued by explaining that some of the messages that are set to be released are said to be “critical of the Prime Minister’s leadership”. Meanwhile, other messages are said to be Peter Mandelson “offering advice” on various policies and topics that were unrelated to his position as US ambassador.
However, she warned the public should also be aware that they should look out for what isn’t in the documents as she continued: “The Metropolitan Police is continuing to investigate Peter Mandelson who denies any criminality and the force has asked the government to withhold certain documents if they jeopardise that investigation”. The request is said to include the vetting document which recommended that he not be cleared for the job that were “overruled”.
