BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt is reportedly facing a probe at the same time as his co-host Naga Munchetty. The presenter, 63, is said to be the subject of a process to decide whether he will face a formal investigation over an alleged ‘string of complaints’ that have been made about him behind the scenes.

Just weeks ago, Naga was also reportedly placed under review by bosses after they received a number of complaints about alleged ‘hard’ and ‘bullying’ behaviour. And now there is chaos for her co-star, as a source told The Sun: “A number of people have come forward to share their experiences with Charlie, so the BBC has officially moved to place the complaints under review.”
The source also told the outlet that the duo will be ‘assessed separately’ over the complaints, and it all comes after a probe was launched into into the show’s director, Richard Frediani, who was recently confirmed to be ‘taking a break’ from his top position at the early morning news programme.

A BBC spokesperson refused to address the claims directly but insisted that allegations over workplace conduct are always ‘taken seriously’ by the broadcaster. They told Mirror: “While we do not comment on individual cases, we take all complaints about conduct at work extremely seriously and will not tolerate behaviour that is not in line with our values.
“We have robust processes in place and would encourage any staff with concerns to raise them directly with us so they can be addressed.”

Naga, 50, has been a regular face on breakfast television and has hosted the BBC Breakfast for more than a decade. As well as that, she also has a show on BBC Radio 5 Live that airs on Monday to Wednesday. But sources recently claimed that a number of colleagues filed complaints over her ‘bullying’ behaviour on both shows, with them saying the BBC has officially moved to “place the complaints under review”.
The review is to ascertain whether a full-on investigation is required and that could come in weeks,” the source claimed to The Sun.
It comes after we previously reported that the presenter could be set to walk away from her presenting roles at the publicly funded corporation.

It was rumoured that she had been looking for a new job and could be moving to rival radio station LBC, and it was claimed the TV star’s agents ‘held talks’ with the news radio station recently. Reports claimed that, despite her earning double that of her BBC Breakfast co-host Charlie Stayt, who has appeared on the famous red sofa since 2008, that she is ‘keen to leave’, following reports of a different bullying row surrounding the early-morning programme.
Frediani, who has been editing the show since 2019, was said to have been ‘shouting and swearing’ at colleagues while ruling the breakfast programme, it was claimed. A source claimed Richard was taking a break because of the ‘damning’ allegations, adding: “He needed time to reflect.”
Not long after, it was reported that presenter Naga didn’t get along with Richard, while many staff members came out in defence of Richard, and it has been claimed Naga’s co-host Charlie also had a strained relationship with Frediani.
Speaking in defence of Richard, one insider told the Mirror last month: “He is not a bully at all and the truth will come out. He’s a great boss and was – and is still – overwhelmingly loved by the team, who respect his drive, expertise, and journalistic ambition. He has delivered great audiences and the first ever Bafta for breakfast TV.
“He can be brash and opinionated but works so hard for his team and allows people to flourish.”
